I really don't see how people can say the ride quality is good. I test drove the Limited and TRD Sport Premium as well and they all ride jittery on small bumps in the road.

I've had a lot of vehicles...20 RAM, 23 4runner, 24 Tundra, 24 Accord, 25 Camry. Hands down, the 25 4runner has the worst ride quality IMO (in terms of every day suspension on road imperfections).

If your doing test drives, make sure the tire pressure is where it's suppose to be at. My test ride was rough until we figured out the PDI wasn't completed at the dealership and they still had the pressure set to 50.

Couldn't agree more! The tune does not isolate the cabin or the steering wheel, so each and every tiny thing is translated back. This isn't about "It rides like a Truck", this is just modern engineering, it's not 1991. Many people get suspension version isolation confused. The suspension is different in many of the trims, but the lack of isolation of what the suspension is doing is called NVH. No matter what vehicle you buy nowadays, the isolation is critically important to your feeling of stability and pleasure driving on bad roads and especially off-road at speed when it's a washboard. The reason other OEM's put so much effort into NVH is you have a more comfortable ride, less fatigue, and a sense of stability - even though the suspension may have a lot of movement, your in-cabin experience is not emulating that of the suspension.

to be fair Noise Vibration and Harshness feedback will keep you safe and on the rough road. If you isolate it all too much, that when you see noobs in the ditch and off cliffs, 'cuz they will navigate in ways that exceed the physical capability of the tires to grip on whatever surface. 2025 4runner is pretty cushy actually but it's design priority isn't to be a barcalounger. There are plenty of barcaloungers you can buy instead of a toyota using the TNGA-F global truck platform

I offer up my Sport Prem to test drive. Even with new Falken AT4s, road ride is very smooth. Only time i get NVH is when lane assist isn't turned off. Feedback from expansion joints is noticeable but not regular tarmac.

I travel for work 2-3 times month for last 6 years. Rent many light trucks, SUVs, etc. Hyundai, Genesis, Lexus, BMW X7s do drive better. I agree those are isolated better. Jeep products, Subaru, US Suvs not so much IMHO. My RR Sport was smooth and several of the 6gens I tested compared much better to 5th gen Taco and 4 Runners I tested. YMMV.

Why are you so hung up on the expectation BS? We’re not buying Top Ramen and expecting it to be a spaghetti Carbonara.

I’ve explained my logic, you choose to ignore it. By the way it’s not logic it’s competitive set engineering standards.

What this has now become is you’re upset with my position and the fact that, how dare I, be critical of our 4Runner’s - so now you are disrespectful to me… How about we both agree to drop it?

When I test drove the TRD ORP, it felt a little bumpy at times but not too bad. It seemed tolerable and the cool factor of the new 4runner was really appealing. No dealers near me had the color I wanted so I purchased from a dealer about 6 hours away and had it delivered.

The one I bought drives a little more harsh than the one I test drove. My wife also has a 25 4runner TRD ORP. Her's is also a little less harsh over bumps than mine. Mine has more creaks and rattle inside as well.

There's not a huge difference in ride quality and build quality between my wife's and my 4runner but there is a small, noticeable difference. Maybe that's why some people on here say it's fine and others find it disappointing.

II have Pro and my suspension is still on what the factory had it on. No ride quality issues here. I keep my tires at 34-35psi

ill just say this: my 5th gen would damn near wreck me and my vehicle if I accelerate at a chop up road heading onto a highway near where I live. downright dangerous. the vehicle is just not designed to handle road chop. honestly the road characteristics of the 5th gen was why I sold it. its not that good enough off-road to justify how shity it is on the road.

I can understand your position and opinion on my criticality. It's just a very common specification each OEM works to tune to through development. Having a lot of experience in newer vehicles from several OEM's - this is unfortunately a failure from my perspective, and if this were a Ford or GM it would never have made it through the development stages at this level of poor NVH.
No I didn't drive it. Sold my 5th Gen and found this after some searching. Every TRD Pro is typically pre-sold and those that aren't most dealers are reluctant to let folks go for rides. Nonetheless it's something I can bring up to the dealer and if enough people make similar complaints they may find a fix or some way to mask the issue. Maybe put out a TSB.
I am curious as to why a ford engineer is driving a Toyota. What about ford puts you off that you just don't want to own one?

I haven't worked for Ford for years now. I'm in the Tier One space mostly on GM and Motorsports. I've owned 2 4Runners previous to this 6th Gen. I like their capability while still being independent front axle. Outside of the Wrangler and Bronco this is where's it at for me.
