Yeah I don't think you can even come close to 15k under. Anywhere on the planet. Maybe he ment 1500. Even that would be good.

Out the door, the TRD Pros are gong for closer to $80k...which is what I paid for mine with extended warranty and a few other options and all the dealer add-ons - which are really not negotiable. But like another poster said, they're hard to find and dealers know they can get away with $5-6k in add-ons. BUT, the resale value will be much higher that any other trim. Look at what they're selling older ones for that are 4, 5 years old with 75k miles plus...it's nuts.

Curious how the TRD Pro interior is much better than ORP. I found this and it looks like there are only some styling differences, nothing functionally different.

Just Softtexs on the door cards, seats, and glovebox plus some fancy dash trim with Toyota lettering. Also, some black trim vs silver, red stripe and TRD logo on the steering wheel, and a red stripe on the Softex shift knob. Not much else.

The hard plastic even on the ORP 6th gen drive me crazy. My 5th gen TRD Off Road is not even a premium and has soft touch everywhere. Hard to understand Toyota's reasoning.

toyota does this on a new gen, they start off crappy and over the model years upgrade them incrementally with better features exterior and interior wise.

its toyota's way to improve a model as it goes thru its life cycle.

its been happening for decades. my 2004 they did subtle changes.

here is a good example

2004 4runner rear had these funky reflectors in the lower bumper

but in 2006 they removed them

that was the 4th gen

they did the same thing on the 5th gen you just didnt notice it.

like my 2014 had the crappy head lights

after 2018 i think they replaced them with led's ??? and improved the head unit vs my 2014

These pics are perfect timing for what I just saw. Coming home from work, I was behind an older LC (dont follow them, but not the last gen, older than that) and the Old Lady has a 25. Just seeing the design cues from the back with the tall back window, hip shape, tail lights etc, its crazy how you can identify it. The 4R is definitely the same way.
I guess regardless of what we can all bitch about with the interior or whatever, seems the exterior designers are on it.

I think a 4Runner that will see a lot of use, dirt, passengers, pets, camping gear, etc., the hard plastic in the Off Road Premium may actually have some longevity advantages.

I don't think the hard plastic is any easier to clean but it will handle sharp objects better. I want mine to be capable of any off road and camping, like I have done with my previous 4 but also be a comfortable daily driver. I tow my boat a lot too and like to do that easily and comfortably. After I completely trash the interior in the mountains or swamps I always clean it up, inside and out. Every one I have had has had over 300k on it and seen a lot of offand on road their entire lives.

One thing about hard plastics is they are high quality and durable. Mine look great after 11k miles and hard use. I keep my ORP garaged so it's not frequently exposed to direct sun. The plastic doesn't bother me one bit so far.
