TRD Off Road Premium vs. TRD Pro

People in the US generally don't want diesel, regardless of emissions. It's $5.50/gal here and 37% more than 87. Diesel in Europe is 8% more than regular gas. BIG difference. In Japan, diesel is cheaper than regular gas. A bump in MPG there pays off.

And a 200hp diesel is not exactly what US consumers are looking for in a 5000lb vehicle. That's the HP of a base 3500lb Rav4. Europe and such pay $8 a gallon for anything so MPG gains and efficiency are at a premium.

I drove a BMW X3 SUV diesel in Greece and it was a dawg. In the US that thing is a rocket. I was soooo disappointed after hitting the gas the first time.

I don’t think would sell many in CA right now. Well over $7/Gallon

I decided that getting the 25 ORP Hybrid had most of the important factory 4WD items also the TRD skid plate, sun roof, 14" screen and JBL system. Then I added after market items I thought were important. I have done PPF, lo profile rack, awning, rock sliders, Banks airbox and turbo tubes, additional lights, and trailer brake. Next up is lift with Bilstein 6112/6100 shocks and UCAs. Then once I hit about 15K on the tires, will switch to 17" wheels and 275 tires. I carry a compressor when we go out on trips. I'm so happy with my rig. With hybrid, instant torque

Bit of a contrarian view here, but I went with the Trailhunter. came absolutely loaded (dentist version for sure) but the Old Man Emu shocks, rock sliders and full setup are amazing. For $500 i was able to install the TRD Pro air intake and eliminate the "snorkel" intake and its annoying sounds. out the door at the dealership, ended up $15k below the TRD Pro. Admittedly Maryland isn't a top market so the dealer wanted to move the inventory, but could not be happier.

15K under a Pro? Everywhere I looked they were pretty similar in price.
