Squealing brakes issue fixed with heavier rotors replacement

My only issue with the whole thing is not alerting customers before purchasing this could be an issue. Had I know ahead of time I might have held off buying one. Theres no way Toyota didn’t know about this before hand. Since they don’t deem it a a safety……

Depends how you drive. Me naturally I don’t like loud sounds so when I hear it I subconsciously slam and let go of the brakes so I am backing up super super slow or if I am pissed I’ll just throw it in reverse and not hit my brakes at all until I turned hoping nobody is coming down the street.

Are your sure the TSB included new rotors?

I get the squealing in reverse 3 times a week but other times not when reversing. Its getting more frequent and louder. I park in a climate controlled garage, sometimes for a few days without driving.

Does the dealer have to replicate the problem before doing the work. I would not be thrilled about leaving the vehicle at the dealer for days.

Had the same squealing issue randomly and also park in climate controlled garage. After bugging the dealer several times, they agreed to order the parts but would not install shims until they could replicate it, which they were able to do. The fix worked perfectly. It’s so in-Toyota to have a small problem like this. Not happy but they did fix it.

I was in a parking lot today at a brewery, I mean hardware store and someone was backing up. I heard squealing brakes and looked over and it was a late model RAV4. Do they have their own TSB or is it not common with this vehicle, just curious.
