Saw Torque News article today saying people are trading in their 6G 4Runners early, I'm a satisfied owner. I just bought my 2025 Hybrid premium the beginning of December, did 600 mile break-in around my area, then headed out for my first 3,000 mile road trip to California, Oregon, Arizona, and Utah. My wife and I loved driving in my 4Runner. Comfortable, responsive, great tech, a pleasure to drive. I'm very happy I bought my silver baby.
It drove great on roads and on a few dirt roads. We were on a dirt road near Bryce Canyon that turned into a red mud bog unexpectedly, I was in 2LO and the automatic tracking worked fantastic. I was in deep shit if I got stuck out in the middle of nowhere. The 4Runner powered thru it. I was so happy how it performed! The 14" screen with Google maps and onXOffroad was so great. The JBL system is very good, not impressive. I was spoiled in my last car that I had a aftermarket $3000+ stereo system, so not comparing apples to oranges.
I have a few minor disappointments:
My wife says her feet are cold on the passenger side unless I turn the heat way up. No idea why.
The mileage was less than I expected, only 19.6. I drive at about 72 on the freeways in ECO mode. I did remove the goofy air dam.
I do have the back seat sensor constantly give a warning (which goes back off on its own).
Sometimes the rear hatch door button to close doesn't respond the first time I touch it.
I have the dealer look at these issues at 5000 miles.
The internal storage space is very limited. I have a Westcott Designs lo-profile rack on order due late January and that should solve that problem.
