Today was the day I got frustrated and just cut a hole in it.

**Looks worse than it is, I didn't blow it off before taking this pic.

Anyway, you can see the metal piece that's stopping the wiring harness from coming off without taking the whole thing apart...Or by cutting a hole and then also cutting an ugly chunk out of that metal piece to get the connector to slide back far enough.

The connector on the back of the light has 10 pins, only uses 9. This connector on the other side of it? 12 wires.

MAKE IT MAKE SENSE LOLOLOLOL

Welp. Short version is that it's possible.

Thanks to some extra-mile legwork on the part of @Maximus4R ...

We're cooking with fire.

I've got a busy weekend, but I promise that I'll fill in the blanks later.

Hey Dead Horse, any luck? I'm keeping close eye too because I'm stuck, but in the 4G Tacoma side. Nice that you found the pin definitions, but I'm also trying to see if this can be fired up analog.

Yeah. I made it work.

Nice!!

Did you have to use the CAN connections?

This was what I found for Tacoma, but I kinda have to guess the wirings because the resolution isn't clear, but your diagrams definitely helped.

The light bar is currently attached to my truck right now, but I bought a 10-pin pigtail. I'm planning to just use a basic switch, not the OEM light bar switch to activate.

One way I was thinking of testing if it will turn on was just wiring all the + to 12V (LBB+, SIN+, SWV+) and wiring all the - to ground (LBGD, SIN-, SWV-). That is my guess as SIN and SWV all just connect to the Illumination switch and that if it is "activated" by power, if there is some sort of circuitry in the light bar, it will give a signal that the switch is "on". However, LBAC wire, not sure where to wire that.

Maybe you have a better solution as you were able to light it up

I'm following for slightly different reason. I did the BD S8 light bar and want to find a high beam trigger to turn it on. I've got a feeling there is a way to intercept the actual 12v power to the factory lightbar within the lightbar itself. Using the internals of a factory lightbar to decode the digital signal in a way.

That's actually one of my end goals too, to have High Beam trigger the light bar, and switch for independent trigger. Since it looks like High Beam is triggered by CANBUS, on another forum I found this solution for it, which I will get eventually:

https://www.ncs-systems.com/car-ele...-control-interfaces/canm8-highbeam-4-937.html

It's a British company and It doesn't mention 4th Gen Tacoma (or 6th Gen T4R) in the "Compatibility tab", but I confirmed with CANM8 that this is the product to get:

I also bought the 10 pin (I did the pins myself, look over this thread to see lol), and couldn't get it figured out, and to be honest, I wasn't that invested in figuring out the CAN connections anyway. I wanted positive control of the light with a single on/off button.

On the back side of the 10 pin (internal on the light bar) is a 12 pin connector that you can't unplug without cutting up some of the aluminum internal frame. Not difficult...But it wasn't needed for what I wound up doing. I just cut all the wires coming off that 12 pin connector and started putting 12V and ground to them LOL

Basically, pull all the lights out, cut this plug off, and make your own harness.

I don't remember all of the wires...But from the 12 pin that I cut off:
Two black and two black/white wires were ground
Two red and two red/white were 12v
The blue and another one...Also 12v.
It was pretty straightforward to sus out the remaining +/- after getting the reds and blacks out of the way.

I removed the sticker/plug in the corner of the light bar and drilled the hole out bigger. Ran all my wiring up to/out of it in a loom, then terminated it with a quick connect I bought at AutoZone for like $12. Good to 30 amps (light doesn't pull more than 10 in my experience testing it on the bench).

From there, wire as normal. I have the aux switches, so it's plug and play from that point.

i have the CANM8. In fact, it is currently installed in my rig, but it can’t identify the 4Runner. I know folks have got it to work on the Tundra, and the LC250 is officially listed on their supported list, but no joy for the 4Runner. I’ve tried to get them to help but either they can’t/won’t or they just haven’t been able to figure out the 4Runner yet as it still isn’t listed on their supported vehicles.
