Portable battery jumper/charger

Can anyone recommend a good portable battery jumper/charger for my 2025 4Runner that is compact and of good quality.

I've got a few jump starters for the vehicles the wife & I have.

NOCO brand are what I carried the most in my vehicles as before I bought them, the AAA tow driver used a NOCO brand on our Acura prior to me owning any portable jump starters for my vehicles.

I do have one other brand a "TYPE S" which I bought at Costco. I've used it on a neighbor's Lexus and it worked, but it was less expensive and seemingly less powerful than the NOCO models I bought.

The NOCO models I bought are GB40 and GB70, although NOCO has other models.
BTW, I've no idea how well a jump starter will work on my '25 Trail Hunter 4Runner as I'm not used to or as familiar with the small battery located in the cargo area in the rear.

None of these are considered to be "chargers", btw. NOCO sells chargers also, but that would be separate product categoy. I do own a NOCO charger or two also and an old school automotive battery charger bought decades ago (as in the 70s), possibly from Sears. I like the NOCO chargers as there is switching for different battery types and some degree of smart charging programming.

The NOCO brand products can be found on Amazon, where I bought. I suppose there are other sources for NOCO, but I've not used other sources for its products.

NOCO. As large as you can afford. You can buy a nice case for it too.

not sure on Hybrid use though.

You jump the hybrid through the engine bay, pop off the fuse box cover on passenger side for positive and ground to the engine. I haven't actually jumped my hybrid but have used the battery for my compressor. I couldn't even get alligator clamps on the actually battery in the back without a major struggle. Engine bay is super easy.

I don't have a hybrid so it does not matter to me but, I do wonder if this is addressed in the owner manual. Doesn't the main hybrid battery power the starter and the 12V battery is just for control circuits?

A friend of mine had an older Tesla that would not start because of the 12v battery going bad. I was surprised it did not have a way to start from the Hybrid main drive battery pack as a backup?

I also have the NOCO GB40, and it is compatible with the hybrid 4Runner. As an FYI, I had a maintenance guy at our house who showed up in his dilapidated, piece of cr*p pick up, parked in our driveway, and when he went to leave (for lunch), it was dead. I pulled out the NOCO and it fired it right up. Ended up using it twice on his truck with no issues.

I'll chime in with a NOCO recommendation. I've carried mine in my "emergency bag" in my 4R since 2019. Used it once and it worked nicely. I do have a monthly reminder in my calendar to top off the charge. It never takes more than a few minutes to top it off.

I have a 6 month reminder for my newer ones. It was still fully charged after 6 months so I let it go to see how it would be after a year, it took very little time to top it off (it still showed 4 bars). I do however work from home and have a garage so it rarely if ever just sits in a hot/cold car. My wife works 3/2 in the office (parks in a deck) and hers was 3 out of 4 bars after a year. Pretty amazing performance.

Thanks for info. I now remember reading about this, now about a year ago, and looking the procedure over.
I recall when I went to remove the cover in the engine bay, I couldn't undo the latches with just my fingers. Instead, I found it most easily done by using a screwdriver to aide in depressing tabs or whatever needed to be done to undo the latches.

It's not hard to pop the cover off with with your fingers but you have to find the sweet spot to press. Once you find it, she pops easy

I replaced my carry bag with a hard (firm) case for more protection and neater storage.
