Land Cruiser shocks installed on 2025 4Runner TRD ORP

So I wanted to try a smoother shock option because the bilstiens have way too much compression. I like digressive rebound on shocks but it feels these are valves the same on compression making them rough on small bumps. I picked up some used Landcruiser shocks since theyre fairly cheap and supposedly rides better then every 4runner according to reviewers.

So far i can say, it's a trade off, They're notably softer that I can compress the rears easily by hand, the Bilstiens you need two hands pushing the shock into the the ground to get any movement. Length is the same front and rear.

Ride wise the LC tokicos cut the sharp edge of small and medium bumps, the large bumps or nearly jumping are a tad rougher, body roll is a tad more and the springs i have no idea. The front have one less coil and are a bit wider which would suggest a softer spring but thats also for a truck that only comes hybrid (~350lb) heavier vs non hybrid.
Overall they're a good quality shock that id recommend if youre looking for a better ride.

I just bought a 26 TRD ORP and the ride stock is terrible. I swapped everything out for King 2.5 adjustables all around and Icon rear coils. Rides night and day difference. Yes at slow speeds you still feel bumps, i’m on E rated 35’s and it still is body on truck so you can’t expect it to ride like a Luxury suv. The improvement from investing in quality suspension is worth every single penny and then some.

agreed. Kinda wild we are talking about needing to replace the suspension that came on a $60k truck to just be comfortable when hitting bumps on asphalt. Personally, going down to 17s with more sidewall on a tire helped big time. Maybe one day when its paid off I will slap a king setup on there.

Those look a lot like the limited rears, which are also tokico. Only the front are AVS. I wonder how the Limited rears differ from the LC!

Bilstein 6112's just came out for the Tacoma so hopefully soon for the 4Runner, I ran these on a '22 Tacoma and the ride was night and day better. Will be interested in seeing how these do.

I know the sr5 shocks are cheap or cheaper. But they do ride pretty smooth. Did you think about going that route? As far as finding some 6th gen SR5s used or buying new from Toyota?

I forgot to measure the bilstiens ride height but i still have a small rake so i bet its the same. I put the LC front springs on but did not change the rears so it is still trd orp rears.

Nah i wanted to go for the "luxury" model shocks that get the best word from reviewers and is on a truck more expensive then mine.
