I’ve had my Limited since April 26 and have about 5300 miles on it so far. I absolutely love this 6Gen. This is my third forerunner over the past 20 years and it is the best vehicle I’ve ever owned. I had some issues when I first got it where the alignment seemed to be off and after multiple trips to the dealership, they figured out that the grandtrek tires from Dunlop were the issue and the dealer contacted Toyota corporate and had them all replaced under warranty with no issues.
I very occasionally hear a small squeak when I’m backing out of my garage, but never ever consistently. Since my 5000 mile oil change my avg mog has risen significantly between city and highway is 17 mpg. The only thing I added was a Toyota OEM black chrome tailpipe tip, tinted the driver side and passenger side windows to match the rest of the tint on the truck.

(IMO) 100% wasted money: Digital Key - just will not work and Toyota can’t fix it.
PIA: the leg opening rear tailgate for me works 30% of the time. Now it could be me but…..
Also at 77 the technology is just over my head. Not Toyota’s fault.
OTHERWISE
My other unit is ‘23 4Runner Off-Road (66,000 miles) and this new one is far superior to the 6cly ‘23 in motor power and especially RIDE And mpg.

The LIMITED (non-hybrid) just got back from a 2000 mile trip and today 1000 miles from home in Colorado. The motor and ride and mpg is superior.
No issues with my digital key. Do you have an older phone that may be the issue?

Here's the problem I have with my new 6th gen 4Runner. Many others can relate.

I spend a lot of money to get this awesome 4Runner. And then once I have it, I say:

Well, I need to tint the windows to make it look even more bad ass, but then I'll stop spending money.

Then I say, well I need to get it ceramic coated to take care of it and then I'll stop spending money.

Then I say, well I need to get a rear cargo matt to protect the back and then I'll stop spending money.

Then I see someone on here who gets cool puddle lights and I buy them. Then I see someone on here that gets a better horn and then I buy one. Then I see someone on here who gets cool emblem overlays and then I buy them. Then I see someone on here get cool fog light covers and then I buy them. I'm pretty sure I've left a few out, too.

I have a big 6th gen problem, but I'm working on it.

Seriously though, I have had no problems other than what I have listed above. Buyer beware.

interesting about the key, Did you replace the batter? My mom has a rav4 and has had no problems with hers. Good to hear about the comparison in the engine and power.

Yesterday we went on some moderate off-roading. No mechanical issues whatsoever. The interior was absolutely quiet. No squeaks or rattles. The car feels like is built like a piece of rock. The only thing is the stiff suspension, but it is expected since it is a body on frame truck. To keep it running for a long time, keep the maintenance tight. Personally I will run mine on premium fuel. Runs smoother that way and I like that.
Thanks for the info about off roading I will use it as a occasional daily driver but I want to go off roading.

I’m not much in that way to where I keep on adding. I put nicer looking wheels on my tundra and that was it. I don’t even try very hard to keep it clean anymore it gets a bath about 2 times a year.

I'm deciding now on a 4R please let me know what if any problems you have had? Especially with the engine and hybrid system. Also any other problems with electronics. Literally anything that has been a headache and if you have had to take your ride back to the dealer for repairs including software updates?
What alternative vehicles are you considering? How do they stack up compared to what you are learning about the 6G 4Runner?

The digital key is now your iPhone (you don’t have to carry key fob anymore) but doesn’t work and can’t get fixed.
The power increase is felt in driving. No question it has more po

SR5 4x4 absolutely awesome in every regard, no ragrets, no issues.

Well there was one issue ands that was merely the hassle and red-tape to
disable Toyota Connect tracking, but I got it done finally. and keyfob remote
start still works w/o that spyware running

I also have some familiarity with Toyota products
all on road now and registered

this 2025 SR5 is freakin sweet ain't gonna lie
What did you do/use to disable their phoning home? I am also a tech nerd and would like to know more

FWIW - I use Connected Services occasionally but just found out one shouldn't rely on this alone with which to start your vehicle. Just today - since Amazon Web Services is experiencing an outage - the digital key doesn't work. In other words, dont solely rely on this service, otherwise you may get stranded.

Trailhunter with 5500 miles. Love the vehicle and no regrets whatsoever purchasing it.

Transmission does shift on the rough side. Reading this forum, it appears that’s just the way they all shift. I’m not about to take it to the dealer complaining about it and potentially making it worse or creating another issue. Just have to trust Toyota engineering and assume they traded some smoothness for long-term durability.

Only other issue is interior has an odor of cat pee for lack of a better description. Also seems common reading this forum. I’ve been leaving the windows open in my garage in an effort to get rid of the smell. Hopefully it goes away once the interior stops giving off odors from the manufacturing process.

Brake Squeal since delivery - on 3rd set of brakes - TSB doesn't fix the issue - Toyota won't even try to fix it now - they will sell you one that squeals but won't fix it - in their defense they can't fix it b/c they don't know how. Just been wasting everyone's time w/ attempts. Otherwise no other issues; just hard to enjoy w/ the brakes the way they are.
