a lot of people think the fake V8 sound that is piped in through the speakers is a gimmick, and it is.....city bumper to bumper/highway:
I tried getting the lowest mpg I can with sport mode and heavy footing I got minimum 16 mpg on one tank premium fuel
Normal driving on normal mode average 18/19 bumper to bumper and about 23/24 on highways at 75 one tank premium fuel
I got alittle over 1k miles hope it improves
Would any hybrid owners care to share their Fuel Economy mpg's per the dash readout?
After my wife's first tank, ours is at 15.5. That tank of fuel included an out-of-town interstate trip as well as in town driving. I will add, there is a lift and tires that measure 34.3" and we live in western NC.
Thanks for any input.
You are likely losing 20hp and 40 ft lbs of torque by using 87 instead of 91 based on all the dynos of the tacoma with same engine. Not to mention the computer is using more fuel to combat knock.yeah, most of my driving is highway. Before I got it, I thought about putting premium fuel in it, but I decided to just go with 87 since it's a Toyota and I don't want to pay premium fuel prices. I do wish my MPG was a bit closer to 20 at least, but I do tend to have a heavier foot
I'll have to try it then, but I do think the 4runner is actually plenty quick for what it is with 87.You are likely losing 20hp and 40 ft lbs of torque by using 87 instead of 91 based on all the dynos of the tacoma with same engine. Not to mention the computer is using more fuel to combat knock.
I bet you would see an mpg increase. To test thoroughly you need to run the tank very empty. Fill with 91. Run tank down to half. Refill with 91 and compare that final tank to the last 87 tank.I'll have to try it then, but I do think the 4runner is actually plenty quick for what it is with 87.
Here are 2 (Sorry for the low quality) :Would any hybrid owners care to share their Fuel Economy mpg's per the dash readout?

Impressive. I havn't seen more than 24.5 mpg on a single drive yet. 1890 miles in the odo.I'm averaging 25-27 MPG on my work commute - 50/50 city + highway.
Been really impressed so far - 1500 miles ODO, took the Air dam off immediately lol.
At high speeds (~80mph) and putting around town I'm getting a fair bit worse (20-22mpg).
This is on 87 octane, Eco mode, TRD ORP with stock rims and tires running a little higher - 40psi.
I am averaging 275 to MAYBE 300 miles per tank of gas, and I'm driving it to empty. 2500 miles of driving thus far, so we are well beyond any break in period. Peeved to say the least.I've got 3200 miles on my OR hybrid now after having it 2 weeks and I'm not complaining about mileage. 80 mph on the interstate it's closer to 20 mpg but I did go 425 miles on a tank of gas so it definitely has potential to get great mileage.
