My wife drives a 2024 Lexus RX350 Hybrid and consistently gets 35 miles per gallon and even a bit better when she only drives in the city. I took delivery of my 2025 TRD Pro Hybrid last week and just broke 500 miles. I love it, all except for the mileage which is disappointing to say the least. I'm driving real easy in ECO mode and got 17.5 miles per gallon, 25% city and 75% highway driving.
I was expecting to at least stay in the low 20's for mpg. Also, my 2016 4Runner got 16-17mpg and my 2020 Tacoma Sport with Falken Tires would get from 19-20mpg.
Now I'm thinking the Hybrid is not worth the extra money.

I'm not really worried either about the MPG, but just a bit disappointed with what I thought it should be considering its a Toyota Hybrid. My company also has a bunch (2)Camry and (6)Rav4 Hybrids and they all get over 40mpg.

Apples and oranges in weight and build. Those two aren't going to pull a 5000+ trailer and stop it or climb trails. Transmissions are completely different (Rav4 is a planetary gear CVT) as an example.

I totally get that they're completely different vehicles with different purposes. I'd be happy with low to mid 20's for MPG for the 4runner, not 17mpg for a hybrid. Just not what I expected for the new generation after driving multiple generations in the past for over 20 plus years.

It seems like people with the LC250’s, same drivetrain have reported getting in the very low 20’s after putting some miles on the engine, I guess we see what happens. Personally if it’s equal to last gen and you can get good acceleration and torque, it’s worth it.

Totally agree us poor bastards in CO lose 25% power off the old 4.0 making it a total dog! If I get the same 18-19 my '23 gets with all the extra power I'll be VERY happy.

Your engine is still pretty fresh, I believe some folks have experienced improving mpg's as the miles climb up....
In the city is where the hybrid should come into better play vs the non hybrid too.

This is right off of the Toyota website. I brought up the specs for a TRD Pro and an all gas engine.

Took possession of a Limited i Force Max last night and drove to Vegas afterwards.
Took off late night so absolutely no traffic. Set cruise control to 77 MPH and got 19.4 MPG according to dashboard MPG. Load was only 3 people and a few bags, nothing crazy.
Not near the advertised 24 MPG HWY was disappointing. Driving back home later tonight so I'll see what those results bring.
Watch the steady driving during breaking periods before 1,000
