Have a question for all of you that have traveled a fair amount of distance.
Did you solidify your deal prior to making the drive?
Meeting was the contract done and there were no upsell surprises? Thank you
Absolutely. The only reason I went to that dealer was after a lot of checking inventory on-line from all the dealers around to find the one I wanted and nothing else. Then got a purchase order in writing that listed the vin, paid a deposit over the phone, waited for it to arrive at the dealer (it was still on the boat), and drove up just to pay the rest in cash and drive away. They did try to sell me the warranty and insurance of course but you just say no thanks that's all.

This dealer was actually pretty great. They screwed up scheduling me to come pick up, and I was half way there (they knew I was coming from a couple hours away), when they called to say they didn't have the title yet. Instead of telling me not to bother coming, they gave me a dealer plate to drive home on, to another state!

It's just an SR5 with almost no upgrades. Just basic 4wd and a few little port tack-ons like the roof racks and fixed steps. 50k total after all the fees and tax. GreeTree Toyota Danbury CT.

I drove about 80 miles to and fro to pick up mine, just curious to see how far others went..
I ordered my 2025 4Runner Black on Black Off Road Premium back in April and picked it up in July. It's my local Toyota and drove 18 miles to pick up the sweet 4Runner.

I live in Orange County California and the dealer that I'm working with is further up in NorCal. That means it would be a rental car one way and a hotel stay.
For me personally to feel safe I would have to see the contract in writing before I went up on a long trip like that. I would not want any surprises.

Contract for car currently being built was "done" with a $1K deposit. There were actually some weasel words in there (e.g. needed manager signature, left blank) but none were applied when the car arrived. No upsell. And, no unwanted dealer advertisement pasted to the rear!

Had our Heritage Blue Hybrid shipped from Houston, TX to Colorado in April. We were 70th on the list since Nov. 2024 and only one shown coming in May 2025 to our dealer, so found one in Houston after watching the online list daily for availability. It was sight unseen when we purchased but it was the color we wanted. It had all the features except vinyl floor mats, perfect! At our local dealership today for its first service at 5010 miles and hope to get the screeching brake issue fixed also.

I drove 45 miles to the dealership, but I was about to drive 600 miles to get what I wanted. I was patient and only did not have to leave the state.

Forty miles but it was like an hour and a half since it was rush hour traffic in Seattle. Local dealerships either didn’t have the color I wanted, couldn’t match the price and one wouldn’t even give me a price on a trade in. He told me to go to carmax and come back.

I drove about 160 miles to the dealer that I buy all of my 4Runners from. The trip to wasn’t bad. On the way back the thunderstorms were so heavy that we had to pull over. Averaged 40 miles per hour. This is the first time I noticed auto braking. Definitely worth the trip.
