On both my 2003 4th gen and 2011 5th gen ( simply can't believe it's been 22 and 14 years respectively ! ), I racked up a ton of miles in short order due to a long commute (~32 miles one way ), and hobbies and interests that led me far from home.

With my 6th gen, I am trying to not repeat that, and being 58 years old its rather easy because once I am home from work and done dealing with whats turned into simply horrendous traffic over the past two decades in my area, I am just simply not interested in going back out on the roads, and fortunately a lot of what I had been doing in terms of activities outside the workplace I am no longer doing.

Still, I am dealing with a commute thats ~ 32 miles one way so am averaging about 320-350 miles a week which I am not thrilled about, but theres not a whole lot I can do about it.

What are y'all putting on your 6th gen daily/weekly ?

I'm about 100 miles round trip for my daily commute. Averaging about 25mpg the entire way, sometimes 23 when traffic is a lot. I'm at costco filling up about 3 times a week. Its been 4 months since I got my 6th gen and over 10k miles on it

34 miles
morning home to work 16.5 miles
afternoon from work to home 17.3 miles

or

32 miles :
morning home to work 16.5 miles
afternoon from work to home 15.3 miles

if we avg it, 33 miles a day x 4 days a week (i work 4x10's) = 132 miles week

this doesnt take into account the winters and remote starts to warm up the vehicle (and yes i do 10-20 min remote starts, it gets chilly when it gets below 0F and -20F)

afternoon route varies on my mood, long way is straight home, short way is thru middle of town if i need to stop for something at the gas station

other thing, once thursday roles around i switch to the 23 tundra to run errands (thursday afternoon thru sunday) once the wife gets home or we go out. it doesnt get enough miles on it in a year (17k in 2yrs 7months) so i try to work it more than my morning commute to work @ 75 mph in my 14 4R

I am four months into ownership and have put just over 5,400 miles on it. Having two other vehicles, I get to share the love of my 44 miles round trip three days a week as I work from home two days a week. We do use the 4Runner to drive to the coast about twice a month which racks up about 700-800 miles per month.

If I didn’t have a care in the world and could leave tomorrow in it, I’d drive from SC to Alaska and back and try to see as much of this country in between as I could!

mmm...100 miles round trip. thats a lot. I did a commute similar to that once (140 miles round trip actually) in a brand new Tacoma ( back in 1998 ). I didn't mind it at first but it eventually got to be horrible and I ended up throwing a mattress in the back of the truck ( it had a cap on it ) because there would be times traffic would be so bad and I would be so tired that I'd end up crawling into the back to nap.

I am pretty sure that on my previous two vehicles I had or was close to 10k within 4-5 months. At just under two months in I am at ~2500k and thats with putting effort into really curtailing my driving habits and asking myself things like " Will it really be the end of the world if I don't get in my vehicle and go do this, or that thing thats almost an hour or more away ?" Usually the answer is no..which is good because that tells me I can sort out the important trips from the unimportant ones.

Ultimately I guess it is the increased wear and tear that frequent driving and excessive mileage causes that I am trying to deter.

Nearly three months since I picked up the Trailhunter and I have just under 1,400 miles on it. I am basically retired and only work one day a week with a 42 mile RT commute.

lol....

yeah...thats my goal is make it last as long as possible. I've been trying to work from home or take a personal day once a week, that drops my work commute mileage down to about 1024 a month which I don't have that much of a problem with.

We planned to drive ours occasionally but the daily driver promptly broke as soon as we brought the 4Runner home. That meant driving the new 4R to work for a week and a half (127m round trip) but I fixed the car this morning so now it's back on weekend goof-around duty. The daily driver has 264K miles on and it is a 2016....don't want that to happen to the new 4Runner!
