can you hold the fob and touch the start button with the fob to start the vehicle ???

thats is the emergency procedure to start a vehicle if a fob is dead
Thats the weird thing...it starts and drives but all the electrical wont come on till I start it. wont lock/unlock, no interior lights, hatch wont open, cant even use the hazards.

sorry to hear that, but for the life of me i cant see how installing tint would when get close to door antenna. that is the only thing i could think would cause an issue unless he accidently cut a door sensor wire.

but then again why would he be that far down the windows to even get close to a door sensor wire.

its a stretch to maybe cut a wire to short the whole door sensor network.
I think he might have accidently done something like that. He said he took off the cover on the hatch to get the rear window. originally thought well maybe something got wet but doesnt seem like that

have the dealer check that first. and keep a copy of the work performed and go back to the tint person for a refund of the bill.

This sucks man!

I think it was Broncos having similar issues after getting tint done, and it had to do with a very negligible amount of water dripping into the dash.

I hope thats not the issue. I would figure it would resolve after drying if its the case. Still waiting to hear back from the dealer. Definitely going to get back with the installer once we figure out what it is

Update: dealer kept it for a day and a half and went through it. Found it was a blown fuse under the dash. Got it back today and back to normal so far. Guessing the tint installer got something wet that blew that fuse

Wow, pretty good outcome. Glad to hear it was nothing expensive or some fundamental 6 gen quality problem.

Good to hear a resolution, but it's interesting. A day and a half seems way too long for that. That almost seems like something that would pop up within the first minute of hooking the 4runner to their scan tool. Maybe something like Carista wouldn't detect or indicate a blown fuse, but if the dealer's full-function tool can't detect that right away, something's wrong.

So if you had to guess, was this probably from tinting the windshield and wouldn't have happened if you only tinted the other windows?

Yea I figured it wasnt a toyota issue since it happened after they tinted and even the installer informed me of the issue when I picked it up. Luckily he had a friend who is a service advisor at a local toyota dealership and we got it taken care of. I was a little nervous because I just got this thing from being on the QC hold

I think they just wanted to be sure thats all it was. The advisor messaged me the first day in the afternoon that they found the blown fuse but they wanted to keep it overnight and check more in the morning. I guess they just wanted to be cautious and see if there were any issues in the morning and it didnt blow the fuse again. The tint installer definitely got something wet. Windshield or on the hatch. He did say he took the panel off on the hatch to do the tint so either one.
