We’re quickly approaching 2026, and I’ve yet to hear or see much about front end alignments for these 4Runners. I’ve been advised twice over the phone that the shops can handle it, but when I arrive, I hear a different story. They can’t pull up the vehicle via the VIN and can’t align it. From my understanding, the dealerships don’t have the specifications either despite being the same as a 2024 Tacoma. I’ve had a simple one inch lift on the front, and I’ve had one tire rotation. I’m used to a front end alignment with every tire rotation! In SC, it’s really a necessity! What are you folks doing about tire alignments?

Also, FWIW, one guy who I took it to gave me a very dire warning. Do not lift and put bigger tires on these 2024+ Toyota trucks. Without proper recalibration/retuning of the transmission, the transmission will fail. IMHO, the guy didn’t have a clue what he’s talking about, and he’s arbitrarily associating Toyota transmission failure with lifts and bigger tires while providing no evidence to support his theory.

Thoughts?

I tend to lean towards the guys recommendation. I don't intend to install larger tires, at least those that would change the suspension geometry. I have an SR5, when the tires need replacing, I'll look at wider options that should not change anything. My hope is that I can increase the absorption of road bumps and pot holes if the tire has more air capacity.

I usually only do an alignment if I have had a new set of 4 tires, even then, I may not if the wear pattern is normal. I keep the tire pressure set correctly and again, don;t mess with the OEM geometry.

I purchased the 4Runner as a vehicle to use and not an off-road project.

more sidewall helps more with absorbing potholes and expansion joints than more air

70 aspect ratio is where you want to be at, but 65 and 60 can work if you have a fatter tire, but you get into a speedometer issue the more out of spec you get, either +/- speed error vs actual on the display.

you can go here and do a comparsion of sizes to oem size

or you can use this

https://tiresize.com/chart/

and select the oem size then click the blue button for alternate size within acceptable specs that are shown in the green boxes

The alignment should be exactly the same as the 250 Land Cruiser. Here is my alignment sheet after raising the front up 1.5" using TRD Pro suspension parts from the 4runner.

I spoke with a service advisor at the dealership from which I purchased. He believes the official specifications should be coming out soon but could not provide a definitive date.
