Got the car since 7/9/25. Have noticed the squeal when backing out of my garage in the last few weeks so I was kinda monitoring it. Then upon coming back from a round trip from LA to Sacramento (approx 1000 miles), the problem was much worse and even got my neighbor's attention who insisted on me taking it to the dealer ASAP! Took it to to the dealer this morning, 8/12/25, and left it there after reporting the ensuing issue. Two hour later, they called me back and has the problem fixed. Looking at the paperwork, it shows the familiar problem with TSB-0046-25. The fix replaced the following (copy/paste verbatim): 04465-34040 PAD KIT, DISC BRA, 04945-00060 SHIM KIT, ANTI SQ, 04947-00030 FITTING KIT, DISC and 08887-80609 BRAKE CALIPER GRE. Free of charge under warranty of course!

the tsb doesn’t seem to fix it for anyone. If you look at the 4Runner tsb and the tundra it’s the same parts except we don’t get rotors and they do which is probably why the squeal noise isn’t fixed with just the current parts. This is missing 43513-0C040

Yeah, I really wish they replaced the rotors as well since I put 7000 miles on them with the squeal. I thought the TSB didn’t fix it, but I can now say that the squeal seems to only be a few seconds first thing in the morning after rain. I am just glad it doesn’t squeal all the time like it was doing.

Which servco toyota did you go to? @jaymay82
I did it at Simi Valley CA Toyota. As of today 8/18, a week after they replaced the pads and related parts per the TSB, the squeal is still there but much less noticeable and only during the very first back up out of my garage this morning. As a test, I drove to my golf course 20 miles away. 6 hrs later, before driving home after golf, I backed up and forth many times as a test and the squeal seems to disappear. So at best I am still monitoring this issue and will report back to you!

As I had stated early on this post, its sad to see that they did not include rotors in this tsb. I highly suggest to take a video of the squeal showing the direction of Travel and make a complaint to the service manager at the service center. If there are enough complaints its highly likely the tsb will get revised and possibly include rotors. Some dealers have changed rotors if the customer was a very heated customer. The only way there will be a change is if there are multiple complaints of the same sort for the same vehicle.

Well, not even a week later and my super loud squeal is back. I guess I jinxed it by still watching this thread.

Same... I got my TSB fix done on 08/16/2025, and today (08/25/2025) I reversed out of a parking spot and the squealing started up again.

UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t understand how they Toyota can’t fix this. So stupid. My 4Runner has been to the dealership since March 7 times for random different issues. I am def writing a letter to Toyota vp of customer experience. Regardless if it’s not a safety issue it’s been a mental issue since March. Mine is at the dealership now and keeping it overnight to try some different brake things since the tsb didn’t work either

Everyone is referring to the noise as sqealing. Howling is more accurate.
Before the TSB was done on mine, the brakes howled only in reverse and only when cold. After the TSB they howl going forward and reverse, cold and warm. Considerably WORSE than before.

Mine just got the tsb done for the second time today. They think the backing plates were warped on the first set. I’ll see in a few hours when I leave in the morning :) when I get up EVERYONE gets up.

Good luck got mine done on a 2024 LC about three weeks ago. No more horrific scrapping at the moment
