Generally it is a PITA but there are many reasons I do my own vehicles. Top one is no one will do a better job. WAY too many interactions with dealerships who do not care about me or the thing I bring in.
Worst was an Explorer I had where the ball joints are integral to the A frame- to change a ball joint the lower A frame has to be replaced. Little bigger than I wanted to take on.
Few days after the work was done I went under to do the oil and as usual gawked around underneath to check the truck out.
The dealer had not put the nuts on the two bolts that hold the A frame to the trucks frame. Holy S--t. One bolt was almost out.
One of the kids used it to commute to school.
Picture the front right wheel assembly flying off on the highway.
There are other things as well but my anchor has slipped on this post so - sorry in advance.
We all have those stories or will. So under I go.
