Generally it is a PITA but there are many reasons I do my own vehicles. Top one is no one will do a better job. WAY too many interactions with dealerships who do not care about me or the thing I bring in.
Worst was an Explorer I had where the ball joints are integral to the A frame- to change a ball joint the lower A frame has to be replaced. Little bigger than I wanted to take on.
Few days after the work was done I went under to do the oil and as usual gawked around underneath to check the truck out.
The dealer had not put the nuts on the two bolts that hold the A frame to the trucks frame. Holy S--t. One bolt was almost out.
One of the kids used it to commute to school.
Picture the front right wheel assembly flying off on the highway.
There are other things as well but my anchor has slipped on this post so - sorry in advance.
We all have those stories or will. So under I go.

Install a fumoto valve while you're down there, makes changes and cleanup a non-issue. The two plastic covers are super easy to take off. Access to the drain and filter is excellent. No need for lifts and definitely not a pita.

I havent lost any mpg since removing the air dam. <snip>
well, yeah, you did lose some mpg by removing it. not a lot, but some.

the vehicle takes less motive effort to move forward with air defector installed.

I think you should do the math. I bet you might save $3 a month.
Yes I did do the math and based on the .7 mpg loss I have read it is more like $10/month. Should depend on driving speeds and distances. I do not believe there should be any difference around town. Yes I do or did count Pennies.

I don't use ramps to change the oil and I'm old with a bad back.
71 years old here. I believe in changing oil with a warm engine and have burned myself under my Silverado many times. Ramps just take a minute, no jacking; I like the extra room.

Makes sense if you drive about 1k miles a month, which a lot do.
I guess it depends on how much you value $10.

If it helps the milage I'll wait until I see it in the rear view mirror.

I have not had a chance to look around under there with our wonderful winter. A few glimpses tells me the thing is really well built and hard as nails.
Glad I watched a video, looks like a fire hose when you pull the plug.
You got me. I took mine off on day 2 so never got the chance. Otherwise there is adequate space.
