i turned off ESE using carista and my TH hybrid is now noticeably quieter. i also crammed a shop sponge down into the snorkle and that is maybe 2/3rds quieter. you can still hear it (fun) but its not obnoxious for the passenger with the windows down anymore.

Would also say using 91 octane instead of 85 octane (mountain regular grade) made the engine much happier and smoother overall.

I didn't read all the comments but the SR5 is lacking underhood insulation that the OFF Road Premium does which would add to more noise. There is a post someone added the hood insulation on an SR5

You still need to use at lease 87 octane at high elevation since you have a turbo. While non-turbos can run 85 octane at high elevation, having a turbo with forced air means you need to stick with 87 octane.

I have a TRD ORP, I don't hear the ESE in mine. I wonder if it's only in the TRD Pro & TH trims.

i don't know the answer since i only have the one truck, but i did not hear ESE either until i turned it off. the dealer can also turn it off for you, if it's a feature of the ORP

Yep, same experience on my SR5 and something I have come to accept. I bought this "soundproof" mat - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DT43Z37F?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title
It helps ever so slightly, imo. Some reviewers think it makes a huge difference but not so much to me.

The only time I have noticed artificial sound being pumped in is when I switch to sport mode and get a grizzly low sound that you can tell is being pumped in.
