Picked up a 2025 Limited and I absolutely love it. First couple hour road trip completed yesterday. ARK flaps on order. Question for the community: follow the Toyota recommended service at 5k miles or change oil at 2,500? Lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks!

Congrats! That color, when the car is clean especially, will age like a fine wine and i think the best of all. Just got mine a month ago (in underground because previous car was blue, needed a switch up)…. But in my opinion the oil change frequency comes down to a few things. 1) how much do you care about the car, given you are posting on a forum about it, I imagine a lot. 2) how are you driving it, is it a parking lot princess or you taking it offroad? Toyota has completely different recommendations for simple driving and true ā€œspecial driving conditionsā€. 3) It probably doesnt make a HUGE difference in the long run, but i dont see why you WOULDN’T change at 1500-2000 miles and again at 5000, before getting on your regular 5k intervals, because there are quite a few posts from very experienced owners/mechanics showing engine wear in the initial oil change. So like again it wont make a huge difference probably in the 15 year long run; but it must be somewhat beneficial to do the break in one, especially if you 1) care about the car, 2) drive it like many say it should be.
FWIW im coming from a piece of poop jetta i used to get the oil done every 10k miles, and ill be changing this bad boy myself at 2k and 5k, and probably take to the dealer around 9-10k for a third change and get a rotation done then too. I love this car lol

I decided to have a few of the early and often oil changes - 1k, 3k and 5k. I had the dealership take care of the 10k. However, I noticed the oil was looking pretty dark, so I might change to every 3-4k - probably 2 3,500 mile changes and a 3,000 mile change. Here’s my reasoning…

Fred (SC4Runner),

Thanks for the video. I follow The Car Care Nut and hadn't seen this one. Very helpful info, lots of light bulbs going off. The guy makes a lot of sense, knows cars/ trucks inside and out. I will be adjusting my oil change mileage after watching the video. I'm a believer.

Congrats on your first 4Runner! I also got my first one in November and I'm loving it. I wasn't sure about the Heritage Blue at first, but have no regrets. I get so many complements on it.

Cargo area rubber mats arrived. Went with Lasfit which was having a holiday sale. Very nice fit/finish.

Lasfit seem to be better and hold up more than the OEM mats.

As for Oil Changes..... Many opinions out there. I have chosen to do it at 1K, 4K and 4K intervals after that.
