Same thing happened to me. Less than 200 miles on a 2025 TRD Off Road. It is starting to sound like a common problem, so I hope the dealers start keeping the parts in stock.
Okay, just following up. I took my 4runner to the dealership and they "gave" me a loaner while they checked it out. They ran a diagnostic on it and couldn't come up with any codes, so they had to open a case with Toyota USA (little worried). The next day they called me back and said it was ready to be picked up.
Apparently, the transmission was low on oil and that is what threw everything out of whack. Time will tell, but it still pisses me off that it gets out of the factory this way.
Iām having a very similar issue with my 2026 4Runner Trailhunter. My check engine light has come on four times already
My truck has only around 6,000 miles. The first time around 3500 miles, Toyota found an issue with the fuel vapor containment valve and replaced it under warranty. The problem came back, and during the third visit, my truck was at the dealership for about two weeks. They even opened a technical case with Toyota and eventually replaced the vapor pressure sensor.
Unfortunately, only about two weeks after getting it back, the check engine light came on AGAIN. Iāve also been experiencing excessive pressure when opening the gas cap.
My truck is now back at the dealership for the fourth time. Didnāt install any aftermarket stuff yet and haven't brought it to off road yet
dont worry all oem's have issues with vehicles during production. toyota and lexus are not immune. the occurrence factor is usually lower but not close to zero. you can expect 1%-2% (sometimes higher during a new gen up to around the first refresh) where toyota is fleshing out a new gen. i have seen this across multiple models (celica, cressida, avalon, paseo, camry, corolla, rav4, tacoma, 4runner, tundra) since i have been buying toyota's since the 1980s)
i have been mostly fortunate that most of my cars have not had any major issue but mostly minor ones.
i had a 84 cressida (used) where i could tap the MID screen and the water temp gauge would flat line and then tap it again and it would read normal.
my 2014 4runner lcd display for the hvac control had a display issue where it looked like the individual lcd's were broken, after a few years they cleared up and never came back.
had a 2018 tundra that the rear passenger seat would rub the corner cab and squeak
had a 2016 tacoma front right speaker grille would squeak, had to jam a broken toothpick in between the "A" pillar and speaker grille, long term resolution was some double sided black felt
i think the biggest issue i ever had was a brand new 84 celica gt fastback, after the warranty ran out the auto trans developed a nasty hard clunk going into drive, almost like if you were to rev'd the engine and slam it into gear.
eventually sold that celica to a racer who only wanted the engine.
