I’m posting this in the non-hybrid tuning section because that is where most of my development began, although CAMTuning now supports non-hybrid, hybrid, and SR applications.
There have been a lot of new members here since last fall, so I thought it was a good time to reintroduce myself and explain a little more about who I am, what CAMTuning is, and what I’ve been working on.
I’m Cameron, the owner and calibrator behind CAMTuning Performance.
I’ve been active on these forums as Toyota’s 2.4-liter turbo platform has continued to develop—answering questions, sharing results, discussing datalogs and new parts, and learning from the experiences other owners have shared.
CAMTuning is a one-person remote-tuning business. It is not a franchise, installer network, or large company with separate sales, tuning, and support departments. Remote tuning allows owners anywhere to work directly with an experienced calibrator, and when you email, message, submit a datalog, or ask me a question here, you are dealing directly with me.
Over roughly 20 years, I have tuned thousands of forced-induction four-cylinder vehicles, from near-stock daily drivers to builds exceeding 1,000 horsepower, and I have been a COBB Protuner for approximately 15 years. Much of my earlier experience was in the Subaru market, while my recent development work has focused heavily on Toyota’s current 2.4-liter turbo platform.
I own a 4th Gen Tacoma that serves as my primary development vehicle. I daily drive it, test hardware and calibration changes on it, collect street data, and use it for dyno development. That direct testing is supplemented by platform-specific datalogs and feedback from customers operating different Toyota models in a wide range of climates, elevations, fuel qualities, hardware configurations, and driving conditions.
Since last fall, I have:
My focus is not on producing the loudest marketing claim or presenting every modification as a major breakthrough. Some parts produce clear and repeatable improvements. Others offer smaller benefits or only make sense for certain goals and combinations. In some situations, the factory component performs better than expected. My responsibility is to represent those results as accurately as I can.
The goal is to make these vehicles drive better, perform consistently, and remain enjoyable to own. Peak dyno numbers are one measurement, but throttle response, shift behavior, torque delivery, fuel quality, temperature compensation, repeatability, and normal daily drivability are equally important parts of the calibration.
I care about this platform and the community around it. I intend to remain involved here—participating in technical discussions, answering questions when I have useful information to contribute, sharing testing, and continuing to refine the calibrations as the tools and our collective understanding of the platform improve.
To everyone who has trusted me with their vehicle, submitted logs and detailed feedback, participated in testing, recommended CAMTuning to another owner, or contributed useful information to the discussions here: thank you. The growth and support since last fall have exceeded my expectations, and I greatly appreciate the trust placed in me.
The business has grown, but the approach remains the same: test on the platform, evaluate the data, communicate the results honestly, and support the customer.

Since last fall, I have:
- Developed and supported calibrations for the 4th Gen Tacoma, 6th Gen 4Runner, and 250-Series Land Cruiser
- Completed more than 100 remote Toyota tuning projects for owners in the United States and internationally
- Tuned non-hybrid, hybrid, and SR applications
- Supported vehicles ranging from stock configurations to builds using intakes, intercoolers, charge pipes, exhaust components, high-flow downpipes, larger turbos, oversized tires, portals, and other modifications
- Continued refining both engine and transmission calibrations based on the needs of each vehicle, its hardware, fuel, and intended purpose
- Evaluated and incorporated new COBB features as they became available, with an emphasis on drivability, consistency, calibration control, and useful monitoring
- Conducted dyno development using my own Tacoma and participated in testing on multiple customer vehicles
- Built calibrations for several available fuel grades, including 87, 91, 93, and ethanol blends
- I have also been fortunate to build working relationships with several larger companies in this market. Those relationships have provided opportunities to evaluate new products, provide calibration support, participate in development and dyno testing, and contribute technical feedback.
Those partnerships do not change how I evaluate a product or configuration. My recommendations are based on the available data, direct testing where applicable, customer results, and whether I believe something makes sense for the individual owner and vehicle.
