That contact could certainly explain the difference in response and lack of larger torque and HP gains
I feel your pain. Pioneering any engine and turbo program is never cheap or easy, even when parts are good.
Hmmm, agreed on disappointment for gains vs. cost on this custom turbo.
I will be watching the FAFR big turbo thread to see what that does with great expectations.
Not to be the tightwad here, but have you considered running a different truck with the tune installed to see what is the max best safe power that can be obtained with all stock components on a 91 octane tune?
Coming from some big turbo builds, I understand all the reasons for larger, more...
I have a TRD Sport Premium with the OEM port installed hard plastic splash/mud guards.
I haven’t had a problem yet, but I am considering buying some flexible flaps to give more clearance over rough terrain, and to keep snow/ice from packing onto the hard flaps.
Also, after recently installing...
Looking forward to this 1st gear tuning.
I have needed to accelerate to get out of the way of a dangerous situation a few times now and found the throttle very unresponsive and having no boost to get me moving, as well as getting out of first gear way too early.
I understand torque limiting...
Adding a new one to the list:
Installed some Nokian Outpost NAT’s in 275/60/20 the XL ones) on our TRD Sport a month ago…. Can’t say enough good about them.
As quiet as the stock Yokohama’s, and these balanced with very little weight at all. They ride much better than the smaller Yokohama’s...
Had my local dealership call me a few weeks back and they told me of the TSB to replace the hardware, and they performed that when I had it in for the oil change at 15k miles a week ago.
My air dam had not come loose, and I had no complaint, but it must have been in the affected build date...
I get it, just hoping that the trans is up to holding the torque if we can keep it cool enough and if the pressure can be increased enough to keep clutches alive.
I would love to find a decent core trans and torque converter to inspect and check out for improvements/mods.
How much horsepower and torque on E10 91, REC 91, and E30 do you believe the stock injectors can control with some margin of safety of the duty cycles (port+direct)?
Can you tune INJPW on both the port and direct injectors on this setup? Are the port injectors a standard size that could be...
I used up all of my included free new vehicle service oil changes at 1,400, 5k, and 10k mile oil change intervals.
My dealership, Leadcar Toyota in Wisconsin, allowed me to use my oil changes early and were easy to deal with.
I would really like to have a conversation with the Allocation ordering team at Toyota and Lexus USA.
Itwould have been a great way to save $800 and get more headroom and better reliability without that option.
Every single 4Runner I saw available early on and later had a moonroof. Same...
Had a ‘12 GX460 and an ‘18 GS350 F sport…
Moved to a whole different state and was given a work truck, so I decided we could go to just one newer family vehicle.
We sold the other two because they were really cherry/rust free but I wanted a single new SUV for my wife, and we went for a ‘25...
I have also heard this random evap test/whirring sound occur on our 2025 4Runner after being parked and shut off for a long time.
No other issues or fuel smell for me though.
ok, I feel the need to add an odd job in here:
Landman/Senior Right of Way Agent for the last ~ 19 years
I was an IT guy for several years before that; I don’t miss it at all.
Worked at a race car parts shop and built several highly modified cars as my passion/first job in High School...
Honestly, the trims are quite a bit different.
To me, I wasn’t a lover of the black plastic fender flares that were the same as the SR5 trim, especially when paired with the wheels that the TRD Offroad premium includes.
IMHO, The TRD Sport Premium has lots of nice features for everyday driving...
I drive from Cedar Rapids to North Wisconsin, as well as down to Chicago sometimes, if you have some roof crossrails or the OEM cast aluminum running boards for sale.
No way would I trade our 6G for an LC250 after having ours for right at a month and 4,000 miles.
On the LC250, the weight limitation for the cargo hold is an absolute joke and was a deal killer for me and my family. I am blown away that a manufacturer would make a vehicle that you can’t spill a...
