ok, I feel the need to add an odd job in here:
Landman/Senior Right of Way Agent for the last ~ 19 years
I was an IT guy for several years before that; I don’t miss it at all.
Worked at a race car parts shop and built several highly modified cars as my passion/first job in High School...
Honestly, the trims are quite a bit different.
To me, I wasn’t a lover of the black plastic fender flares that were the same as the SR5 trim, especially when paired with the wheels that the TRD Offroad premium includes.
IMHO, The TRD Sport Premium has lots of nice features for everyday driving...
I drive from Cedar Rapids to North Wisconsin, as well as down to Chicago sometimes, if you have some roof crossrails or the OEM cast aluminum running boards for sale.
No way would I trade our 6G for an LC250 after having ours for right at a month and 4,000 miles.
On the LC250, the weight limitation for the cargo hold is an absolute joke and was a deal killer for me and my family. I am blown away that a manufacturer would make a vehicle that you can’t spill a...
Good point, if I’m not happy with my three peak tire choice for winter, I may have to move over to a set of winter wheels and winter specific tires for the season.
I was also really “needing” awd again, but, I wasn’t willing to spend the extra $10k to $15k more to get a limited 4Runner or a GX550, and there were none available after waiting for months and looking everywhere.
My hope is that adding some 3peak rated tires and driving with some consciousness...
@The_Dark_Knight_Forever
âť” Do you think that me driving it home as described caused harm to my new vehicle?
âť” Moving forward, how do you suggest driving it exactly to help it break in properly?
âť” How long can I expect to be in the break in period?
My $.02….
Don’t worry too much on...
Run it in the manual gear mode where you can drive it in 4th, 5th, and 6th gear, keeping rpm under 4,000 usually when accelerating and decelerating.
You can gear down to 4th, or even 3rd if you keep it below 4,000 or so, and let off the gas to let the engine braking occur, like you would when...
Coming from full-time 4wd Toyota and Lexus vehicles and going to our new 4Runner with part time 4wd, I see it as a reason to go for an adventurous drive once a month down a gravel or soft dirt road/trail so I can engage these gears in 4wd High and 4wd low.
Thanks for this tip!
Totally worked for mine also.
Dealer apparently didn’t do PDI on tire pressures either… I was rolling around on 45psi. I hadn’t figured out how to check the on board monitor when we left the dealership after a long wait. Didn’t check it until a few days ago and 430...
My TRD Sport with the hood scoop definitely has a flutter from about the rear 1/3 of the scoop to the rear edge of the hood for the center section of the hood.
My vehicle OCD noticed that right away, but it isn’t so crazy that it is making me nutty.
I hope they come with a TSB for it like...
Three weeks ago, I found a rare deal on a TRD Sport premium that was oddly marked ~$3,600 off of MSRP North of the Chicago metro area. I had been searching/browsing for this model and for a limited back and forth for months, and didn’t see a silver one coming anytime soon.
All of a sudden, I...
My dealer didn’t perform the seat default baseline/PDI.
I was wondering why it was beeping every time I moved the seat, and wouldn’t save my seat settings.
I used the instructions on here to perform the default baseline and Voila! Everything works perfectly.
After a few posts on this great forum, I figured I would introduce myself.
I am located in Central Wisconsin.
We just picked up a Cutting Edge (Silver) TRD Sport Premium 4wd on Saturday for ~$3,600 less than MSRP at a small dealership in the North edge of Illinois.
I spotted it randomly when...
I was also worried that the factory door edge guards were going to be noticeable and/or ugly on our TRD sport Cutting edge, and I can say that they are nicely installed, color matched, and look classy and useful. Much better than the PPF wraparound that is on my other car.
Look at all the little flecks in the oil and on the glove.
Lots of tiny metal particles and little pieces of sealant, etc.
In General, junk that comes out of a new engine.
I just drove our new 4Runner 250 miles home from the dealership.
I am really into high performance cars in general, and I have built lots of engines and ran them on a dyno and I didn’t break them in like an old lady driving to church….
You put them under a load against the dyno brake and...
It happens because when you close the throttle when the engine is loaded (during a deceleration event), a high vacuum is created in the intake that the pistons have to work against during the intake stroke.
This is how engine braking occurs on a spark ignition engine.
On a diesel engine, a...
Also wondering about this….
Not terribly disappointed with the JBL in our TRD Sport Premium, but there is room for improvement with the subwoofer output. I also know if it was crossed over in a different range, it would be much cleaner sounding on the lows.
My wife is against spending much...
