Just wondering if anybody who has the factory cross bars has come across any solutions to minimize the amount of wind noise coming off these things (with the exception of completely getting rid of them). I do like the look of them, but crazy loud. Any other brands that look good but are quieter? Thanks

Make sure they are installed the right way, a bunch of people here had them on backwards from dealer and it makes a big difference in noise.

That's true, make sure the smooth side is facing the rear. Makes a huge difference.

Wrap the crossbars with cord. It apparently cuts down on wind noise:

My 5th Gen has a sticker on the roof rail showing the quietest position for wind noise. Try playing with the position of the front bar starting around 12" back from full forward. It's the front bar that gets hit with full airflow. If this doesn't work, wrapping the bar as mentioned is a great option and might even improve the look.

Well closing the sunroof is an option but I liked to keep mine open....and I never really used the roof rack. I am thinking I put it on more for the look than the functionality. A poser, I was.

The noise was that loud? That’s crazy mine isn’t loud like that. I just close my sunroof shade and I don’t hear a thing.
A lot depends on how you're driving. Mine got unbearable on highway which is 75% of my driving. Also as we are getting into winter, and the winds kicked up here in the midwest. Maybe I'll throw them back up there in the summer and see how it goes.
