I have my recovery rope in there and other things I am glad to have and hope I never need since it's not the easiest accessible spot.

Exactly this for me. Also my hitch accessories (ball mount and D-ring) and a few ratchet straps live there. The ropes and stuff provide cushioning for the heavy items.

I may actually throw some extra rachet straps in there myself. Other day I hauled 10' lumber pieces and would have prefered to use those instead of my bungie cords.

I put my winter gear (beanie, gloves, face cover, etc), snow brush, and jumper cables in there. I might toss in some hand warmers in there too. Too small for a blanket, but it might fit an emergency thermal blanket.

Ill prob add recovery straps when I buy some.

I have an axe in there. Not because I think I’ll ever need an axe, but because it’s cool.
