5.9 vs 6 quarts of oil. Why not just 6?

I don't get it. Why wouldn't Toyota just say 6 quarts of oil instead of 5.9?

It's been reported that 5.5 quarts puts it right in the middle since you would never be able to get all the oil out of the motor. I would think 6 quarts would be considered overfilled.

toyota has a conservative approach to most things so i am guessing .1 difference is not going to ruin anything. that also wont take into account the oil that wasnt drained during the oil change, so technically the system has more than 5.9 quarts, you just cant get to it.

but thats a mute point, the below is more practical from a common sense pov ...

and across 6 containers i am not expecting you to get a full quart out of a container on each and every quart container. you would have to slice it open and scrape all the excess oil clinging to the inside to get the full quart out of the container.

after 6 containers you are probably at around 5.9 quarts anyway.
