Been reading the forums for a month or so, picking up some useful knowledge while awaiting the arrival of our new 4Runner.

First mod: remove the air dam!

Second Mod - put the airdam back on to restore your MPG.

On a serious note, I would not recommend modifying anything until you have a few miles on it. If issues occur, the dealer will not be able to blame the mods.

Also, I would assume with a “limited” spec model, you really don’t need to modify anything.

Yeah, the dam will stay on for a bit, want to get an idea of what I am dealing with.

There is always a mod

I had a 2dr Bronco Wildtrak I did a hell of a lot of mods on, learned a very valuable lesson, if you want to kill fuel economy, too many mods will do it.

your limited looks great. A neighbor has the red too. Keeps it very clean.

I learned a long time ago, if you want hard core off-road, track performance or a towing rig, buy a dedicated product. Can one product do it all with mods, yes but poorly at great expense. I see a lot of $$$$ going into vehicles in mods that the owner will never get a return on.

I have a stock SR5 with 4WD. I purchased it for function. I have an F350 for utility and towing. Range Rover for off-road if needed, we never go off-road intentionally.

I know mist folk on here do not share or appreciate my opinion but its just that, my opinion

My thought exactly, Why remove the dam lol.

Because removing it increases ground clearance and looks WAY better! You’ll notice zero difference in mpg’s.

i removed mine the first week i had the platinum. mpg was in the 18-19 range, once i got to around 9k miles the mpg went up.

now i average around 20-21 mpg across 59 fill ups. i have hit 24.9 mpg on a tank but that was a rare event outlier so i really dont count that one.

We loved the Platinum too (same color), but ended up with a TRD Off Road Premium. One thing we did want was the black fender portion and not painted for ding protection.

A couple of things we did not realize the Premium lacked were: No ability to fold in the mirrors (a biggie and I thought all cars had this now); No rain sensing wipers (again, I thought all cars had this now).
