I purchased a TRD Sport and does not have a Homelink mirror. I have found a couple but $200-$300 seems expensive. Has anyone installed one and where a less expensive place to get one?

I know it's a dumb question but you don't want to use a standard remote? I would be cheaper:)

Ditto..... I would like to have had the option on the SR5 to add the camera based rear view mirror but, Toyota in their flawed packaging do not allow that. So, standard remote for me plus I can open the doors from my phone.

lol i use a old standard remote for our 23 tundra, even though it has homelink in the mirror

buttons was too small on our 2018 tundra, and just too lazy to setup on the 23 tundra

My suggestion is call Bob's Automotive mirrors...219-575-9220.
Tell him I sent you, and ask him if he has a used, or a return.
You'll be happier having a nice original gentex mirror in your car then using a remote. Also, a remote can be stolen out of your car and used to access your garage later. I really believe that a couple hundred dollars is very reasonable considering what you get.

Interesting enough with the 25 Tacoma SR5 you can get two small convenience packages. One comes with parking sensors, JBL Audio, Homelink Mirror, and Digital Key for around $1500. You can also add heated seats and steering wheel for another few hundred dollars. On our 25 4Runner SR5 you can't get any of that. I understand they are made in two different continents but come on Toyota give the people some cheap options. I to was looking into adding a Homelink mirror but for now just have a opener in my console.

The reason to go with Homelink instead of an actual garage door opener is so when thieves ran sack your vehicle and get your address they don't also gain access to your home through your garage. At least that is why I do it. Also, you can control home lights with the HL mirror as well.

well first thing is dont load your actual home address into the head unit.

as a safety precaution, i load the local police station as the home address. normal people can figure out how to get home without a map or map app.

it works for general navigation uses from ??? to home in the head unit for getting home but its a safety buffer using the police station.

that way it also helps if you have a an old fashion garage remote they dont know your actual house location.

and garage's are easy to pop open without a remote, just slide a long metal bar to catch the emergency release, way easier if you have windows in your door.

so you also need to theft proof your emergency door release

just some thoughts :)

Not to beleaguer the point, but if the remote does get stolen, you can reset the garage door opener using the Learn button. Once you reset the opener, all devices that were paired to it are no longer paired. Each device needs to be repaired which takes maybe 2 minutes total. You may have known that so just an FYI :)

Correct, but "only" if you are going home after. If you left your car at the airport you are screwed. I grew up in a big city where this happened a few times.
