I'm in the market for a TRD Pro and was wondering about the difficulty/cost of a full body paint job. I'd like to get the Pro in the Mudbath color, but I'd have to get it without seeing it in person. I saw an Icecap version and loved it. Assuming the worse case scenario, how much does it generally cost to get a well done full-body paint job on a 4runner. Would they be able to nail the Icecap color and make it look as though it was the original?

And the paint wouldn’t be anywhere near the quality of the factory paint.

FWIW, Mudbath is awesome…I get tons of comments on it.

You could go with a wrap — figure on $7K and up, depending on your area and how detailed the job is. It’ll never look exactly like factory paint, but you’ll get solid protection and won’t hurt the car’s resale value.

A full repaint on a new car just to match a factory color? That’s firmly in “FU money” territory. If that’s you, more power to you — but it’s almost never worth it.

Honestly, the best move is what someone else already mentioned: trade it for the color you actually want. You’ll save yourself a ton of cash, hassle, and regret down the line.

If you want it to match OE quality, including door jambs it would cost you in excess of 5-7,000. Big variance because area matters.

Not worth it man, just keep your eyes peeled for a mudbath. It'll show up.

I'm reading it like OP wants an Icecap - that he has the opportunity to buy a Mudbath sight unseen and isn't sure he'll like it?

OP, if that's the case - Mudbath is a verrrrry desirable color. Seems like almost any dealer would be happy to hunt down an Icecap for you and swap them.

Find a dealer in a surrounding town/state and spend a little money to get the color you want versus a lot of money for a paint job.

I have the Sport Premium trim and got the Wind Chill Pearl paint. I like it more than the Ice Cap White. Wind Chill Pearl is not available in all trims however.

Is this a serious question, or trolling??? I mean if money is literally not even a consideration, then I guess, ok...

But this has to be trolling. Makes absolutely no sense for so many reasons.

Speaking as collision estimator for a Toyota dealer body shop, cost to paint a 4 runner is easily $10k+ more so if you want door jams, engine bay also done. in my opinion a wrap is much easier option and more cost effective.

matching the color is not a hard thing to do when you have the right equipment
