I have a '25 Trailhunter, which has been sitting in my garage, unused for the past 2 months. Went to start it tonight and it is dead as a doornail. 2 months shouldn't drain a battery completely so there's some sort of parasitic battery drain going on. Anyone heard of any firmware upgrades affecting this issue?

Anyone else have this issue?

Cheers

Did your dealership add a gps tracker? Commonly installed on your ODB-II connector using a piggyback cable. It would look seamless until you pull the kick panel down.

I've no idea and why would they install this anyhow without my knowledge?

Many dealerships put them on all vehicles for tracking and insurance, then they "sell" it to the customers as a value add. You are supposed to know about it if you have one.

I will say no to this.

Back to my original problem.

Has anyone experienced this dead battery issue?

A parasitic drain will kill a battery in a day or two because they draw lots of power. You don't have a parasitic drain, 2 months is a long time sitting. Remember that even though most modules are sleeping some are still active for things such as remote entry, alarm, memory functions etc. If you frequently leave it sitting for long periods of time I suggest you use a battery maintainer.

My hybrid did the same thing. Husband was able to charge it enough to take it to Toyota where they fully charged and it was fine. Also said a lot have been having that happen over the cold weather.

Resolved. Had AAA come out and give me a boost this morning, drove around for an hour, now on trickle charger.
My fault. Lesson learned.

Mine died because it's been sitting for the last 4 days while it gets the PPF and tint done.
We've been opening doors, lowering windows, turning it on and off and moving it very short distances all week, I'm talking 10-15 feet here and there. I'll be putting it on a trickle charger while we finish the rest of the PPF today.

Then I'll finally be able to take it for a long drive 😁

I know I am definitely going to go and buy a battery boost/lithium pack for on the road so I dont get stranded... Any recommendations?

Noco and Hulkman brands worked great for me.

We have 2 Hybrids…24 Tundra TRD Pro and the 25 4Runner ORP…both have the separate 12V battery tucked away in the back in their own compartment. Although we use ours regular but not excessive….sometimes it may be 10-14 days between use. Both manuals have shown the dedicated jump site under the hood and the RED terminal under closed box.
Has anyone used a Battery Maintainer (I.e. Battery Tender) on their hybrid for extended non-use? I was told the single 12 V battery in each hybrid is for ECM and a few electronics but not for starting…the hybrid batteries take care of that…

Another vote for NOCO. I also have the padded protective hard shell storage case which is much better than the included cloth bag.

Consider upgrading your battery to a LIFEPO4 Starter battery, My Oem battery died once on me during some stalls and never again will I run into this.

Alberta Lithium Battery is what I used but I believe you can find OPTIMA and Antigravity battery in the USA and they both have backup battery boosters in the battery.

2 months will drain it. I had my ORP sitting around for a few days but granted I kept opening doors doing random installs and battery went dead.

it has been sitting around for weeks and I have a NOCO 5 connected to the 12 volt battery to keep it fully charged.
