I had never seen Hitch Skid Plate until an add popped up on my socials. Initially I thought it may be a good idea but as I thought about it I started thinking doesn't it just cut down the departure angle. Anyone have thoughts or experience with them?

gimmick that worsens departure angle

I grind my '99 4runner hitch every weekend stepping up boulders
on the way to my cabin. little grinding underside of hitch...loves it

if I added that thing I'd get hung up

Hopefully soon 2026 4Runner Off Road
Not only decreases departure angle, but also increases leverage/torque on the hitch assembly when it hits.

Do they make a skid plate to protect their pretty red hitch skid plate? ;p

“that’s your final answer? And the survey says… gimmick!

Larry, tell TrdProGirl what she has won.”

”Well this is embarrassing Pat, she has won.. a hitch skid plate!”

need to do this in the sky high movie "bruce campbell" voice "side .... kick" > gimmick
