Spare tire won't lower

I need to add air to my spare (2025 ORP) and when I tried to lower the spare, I could only get the tool to turn about 1.5 turns, so the tire just breaks loose, but then the tool won't turn any further and I don't know how hard I should force it. Anyone had this happen before? I tried re-tightening and loosening a couple times but same result.

Physically get down w/ a flashlight & check for dirt/obstruction in the slot where the stick goes to. Keep turning left and it will lower. It's a simple mechanism.

Mine also hangs up. Any more force on the crank feels like it would break something. I raise the tire back up a little, then rock the tire around while slowly lowering, then it finally goes down easily.

When installing, I'm careful not to twist the chain. Not sure what makes it hang in that position while lowering.

Could be that the cable has bound up in some manner. Overlap or one layer pinching another up against the drum. Have had that happen on other vehicle. You just have to work it free.

Don't recall if it was a chain or cable. I have had both but the issue would be the same.

It could be binding if the spare has spun around a bunch. Gotta get under there and get dirty to find out.

Very well could be the tire stuck to the bottom of the vehicle. Recently replaced the spare on one of my trucks and experienced this. We took a rubber mallet and tapped around the tire and it came lose.

I watch closely and my chain is not twisted. Like OP stated, the tire breaks loose, drops a little, but then will not lower.

Raise the tire back up a little bit, then rock or wiggle the spare tire with your hands while slowly lowering the crank again so the chain or mechanism unbinds.

Shake, wiggle, push, pull, twist right, twist left, doesn't matter. But there's only so much you can move it when the tire has barely broken loose. Also not dirty. Still won't come loose. Unless something broke, it's just not a good design. This shouldn't happen.

Mine got stuck/hung up and it was part #2 in the diagram that was making it difficult to lower the tire. Mine is now on the floor in my garage, but I can raise and lower my spare
