I installed a Super Nintendo Classic into my 6th Gen Toyota 4Runner using the CarTrimHome C12 14.6” Android Automotive head unit!

In this video, I walk through how I connected the Nintendo to the C12, including the video and audio connections, and show how well it works on the massive 14.6” display.

If you have a 2025+ 6th Gen 4Runner with the CarTrimHome C12, this is a fun way to add some gaming capability to your truck.

🔥 In this video:
• Nintendo Classic installation
• Connecting the Nintendo to the CarTrimHome C12
• Video input setup
• Audio setup
• Testing the Nintendo on the 14.6” display
• Gameplay and overall performance
• Things to know before attempting the install

So how do you access the other vehicle settings that are controlled through the radio system? If you remove the original radio, can you still access the trip information and vehicle settings through the instrument cluster (speedometer)?

I don't think it will work.

It’s all there, this is in the android automotive app, called a/v or audio and video. All the previous functions remain intact in separate apps through android automotive and are expanded upon providing even more info that would be on the 8inch display. One perk that is notable is that you can control the ac through the touch screen and select an actual temperature.

There is also a front camera that came with my kit but I haven’t installed it because I already have the Wolfbox. I’m thinking about installing is above my skid plate and below the bumper came of the Wolfbox to give an underbody vantage point.

All the controls and features work, remote start through the Toyota app. The only thing that doesn’t work well is the mic sometimes people find it hard to hear me on phone calls compared to own. But the unit has a mic input on the back so you can wire a mic that will be better quality than oem from what I’ve read through research for about $7. The satellite radio doesn’t work but I don’t pay for a sub and I could always login through the app if I wanted. You can download any app that’s on the google playstore as well.

Subscribe to my channel to get notifications, I’m going to drop a demo of the unit within the next week or two.

I have installed the front camera. It's very good with recording through Adas application. You can record Front and Back at the same time.

Can you explain a little bit more for your first paragraph ? Which automotive applications are you talking about ? How can you access the factory settings and how can you control your temperature?

Thank you for providing the detailed information. I really appreciate it.

I still have a few questions. How can you view, reset, or manage the trip information and maintenance settings with this unit? My understanding is that these features may not work without the factory radio.

Also, what app are you using? If possible, could you make a demo video for your YouTube channel showing the vehicle settings and how they work with this unit? I think it would help a lot of people.

My biggest concern is that I have pretty bad OCD when it comes to clean installations. I wish these companies would design these units as true plug-and-play replacements. The wiring harnesses behind the unit are a mess. These units also don't support the factory GPS antenna, so you have to install a separate one. They also don't have a built-in cellular modem, unlike the factory system.

I would really appreciate it if you could provide more information.

FYI, I opened and tested this unit myself. The remote start and the Toyota app continue to work even if you completely remove the factory radio, because those functions are controlled by the vehicle's ECU rather than the radio itself.

Oh wow! You pulled your head unit just to test if the remote start works? That’s impressive. The unit comes with a gps antenna and also a sim slot for cell service. You can look up the product specs on the cartrimhome website if you’d like. I do have a demo planned in the future and in my opinion this unit is far superior to what Toyota has in its base model. I can’t attest to what comes in the higher trims though.
