Adding a CD player to 8" display unit - here's how

This is a matter of personal preference. By way of a technical comment this particular CD player utilizes Electronic Skip Protection (ESP) or "shockproof memory." These devices buffer 10 to 120 seconds of audio data into internal RAM. If the laser is temporarily knocked off track by a jolt or vibration, the player seamlessly serves music from the buffer. I never experienced skipping off road.

My 2019 mustang bullitt came with a cd player built it. I use spotify, but also the cd player. Think the cd has better sound quality.
My home stereo is all 70s gear. Pioneer sa8500, Khorns, and cornwalls. Shake the house!

hate to say it, but nice projectile in a crash

but then again, its hard enough to keep anything in my vehicle as it is. i am just as guilty when i place my 7in garmin in the same spot for my annual trip to GA.

otherwise, i keep nothing in the vehicle except my phone to do all the heavy lifting of misc stuff

LOL...I live in civilization where that is never an issue...so I guess you are right there. Yes I pay...for an unlimited amount of music at my fingertips. I pay $16 a month for my entire family. Even then...thumbdrive is a better way to go!

I debated posting this, but... just want to address some of the stuff that's not accurate in this thread.

Disclaimer: If you want to use a CD player, cassette player, CD player connected through the cassette player (yes that was a thing), or even an 8-track. Go on with your bad self. Use your vehicle however you like.

That said:
* Yes ripping CDs is a pain in the ass, but it's also a one-time thing.
* in 2026 there is NO degradation of audio quality at all. You can even choose not to compress whatever you rip from your CDs so the data is actually identical, but the audio compression we have available today is top-notch with no perceivable loss in audio quality by humans.
* there's no need to be connected to the Internet at all. For music ripped from CDs, there are lots of totally free options for music libraries etc. and even Spotify (with a subscription) will let you download music to your device and listen offline.

Again, not hating on anyone's choices, but just want to let people know you have options in case you're not aware.

LOL...why? You can pull all the content on those disks to a thumb drive and play them from a USB port.

I too copied my favorite CD's to a thumb drive. The USB connection allows browsing the content of the drive etc. I have a 300- CD changer and convert my stoff to thumb drives for the car.
