Anyone tried to mount a ham head unit in this location? I can’t possibly be the only one who thinks this is absolutely ideal? Any idea how we could accomplish this? I’d only need to run a single cat6 to this location and of course…mount the head.

Haven't done it yet, but this is the leading contender for where I plan to put my Kenwood TM-D710 head as well. My radio came with a mounting bracket that could screw into the panel that's below the vent and above the switch panel to the left of the instrument cluster.

I did see a post online a while back where someone had opened the head and glued magnets inside, and put magnets in their dash. Seems that could also be an option as long as I don't break anything by opening the head unit.

My only hesitation about this spot is how close the radio will be to the turn signal stalk.

Not sure what brackets or mounting options are available for your Yaesu.

For this head unit, the turn signal has plenty of clearance.

I’m thinking about a boat load of Velcro to test it out. I’m fine drilling holes for the right mount, it seems viable
