I was reading through the TacomaWorld forum and found a discussion about swapping the 14-inch screen from the 2024 Tacoma into other Toyota vehicles:

Someone mentioned the possibility of using Tacoma parts to upgrade the screen, which made me curious. I took some measurements, compared online pictures, and opened my 5th-gen 4Runner 8-inch multimedia unit to see if this swap could actually be possible.
My findings are interesting. I don't think it's a simple plug-and-play swap, but I also don't think it's impossible. With the right fabrication and electronics knowledge, someone (possibly an aftermarket company overseas) could probably make this work.

Another thing I noticed is that replacing the factory unit may also cause you to lose the ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) feature and the artificial engine noise system.
Has anyone here successfully swapped the 8-inch Toyota multimedia system to the 14-inch Tacoma-style screen? If so, what functions did you lose, and were you able to retain all factory features?

- The screen mounting points are completely different because the 14-inch unit is much larger.
- The 8-inch unit uses a ribbon cable for the volume control and some controls, which would need to be addressed.
- After removing the factory head unit, I noticed that some vehicle functions still worked, such as remote start and door lock/unlock functions.
- However, some vehicle-related information stopped working. The trip information, odometer trip functions, vehicle settings, and steering wheel controls were no longer accessible through the factory system.
