Front Brake Squeal Noise Fix - official TSB brakes fix! (TSB-0046-25)

I have about 6000 on mine and waiting for Toyota to get the brakes in stock. I notified them at about 4000 about the squeal.

Not to throw gas on the fire but my neighbor across the street has a 2 year old Rav4 that has exactly the same squealing noise when she backs out of the garage. I'm glad I do not have the issue w/ my 2025 4Runner.

Being such a widespread issue, I'm surprised that Toyota is still insisting on using the new style brake springs instead of the old. I just took delivery of my SR5 last week, it being built in late-May, and it has the "new" style springs. Hope this issue doesn't pop up later down the road, but I am prepared for it

I was at my dealer for the 15K service this past week (July 2026) and was told the parts are on a "stop order" from Toyota because the TSB fix was not fixing the issue. I explained to him that I've been waiting patiently for almost a year and there is still no resolution. He shrugged it off and said it was not a safety issue. I explained that I paid over $60K for the most expensive vehicle I've ever bought, and this is the first one that has squealing brakes when I back up.

My dealer is terrible anyhow, but I'm really disappointed in how Toyota has handled this issue. I've been a Toyota owner for decades, and while I love my T4R, this issue is frustrating.

I’ve put over 20,000 miles since the TSB fix and haven’t had any issues. I did have to wait for parts to arrive and within a week, the dealer called me.

Just had my brakes done. They don't feel like they have the bite they used to. Hoping they just have to break in with the original rotor.

Did any of you look over your work order and see what the actual part is that is supposedly defective? It's simply the back shim of the pad that is being replaced with a different part #. The brake pads and the guides are still the same.

And a TSB is a Technical Service Bulletin. It's not safety recall. If you don't say anything, they won't fix it.

If you're dealer is still making excuses that they don't have parts after you've complained about it. Call Toyota Corporate.

Check the TSB to see if there is a stop order or call Toyota Corporate. Sounds like bullshit to me.

My 2025 is starting to have this issue now. It's really getting loud too. I just don't know if I need or want a brake job at 8.6k

Mine just started at 8k. Backing out of the garage, every time. Guess I better call the dealer.

Mine did it infrequently for the past year. At 20k miles, it started doing it every day. Dealer has been waiting on new pads for 3 weeks now lol

First time around, my dealer put in the wrong parts and made the howling worse. Second repair under the TSB fixed it; no howling and brakes are very good.
I have a couple other significant problems with my 4Runner, and Toyota has essentially brushed me off. When a car is reluctant to start at high altitude, it seems like an issue they'd be willing to address: nope !
