Thank you for the input (y)

For the people asking for "proof" or examples that a waranty can be denied, luckily for you, your driving a toyota engine so finding those examples may be hard to do. I`d imagine that if there was an actual engine issue that wasnt part of a campaign, Toyota would likely deny service with your tune, or "performance" mods. It may even depend on your dealership too. Some may chose to overlook certain mods
Thats from one guy one dealer, per that statement, it’s could be anything. Taking the front lip off, suspension mod, bigger tire, molle panel, ect. Every mod is performance related. Of course dealer gonna denied service any chance they get. It’s your job to make them prove the mod cause the issue. This post original to inform everyone about the benefits and the fun I get without compromise the safety of the engine with a the tune. But y’all warranty police have to come and kill it. Good job 👍

To put some of this in perspective, there was a news story not too long ago where a guy was denied a warranty claim on his Camry’s (?) steering wheel replacement request. Toyota denied the claim stating that the human oils from the owner’s hands resulted in the deterioration of the steering wheel. Likewise, someone on a 6th generation 4Runner Facebook group was denied a ABS sensor claim due to off-roading.

So, yes, Toyota will go out of their way to deny as many claims as possible in pursuit of cost savings. It’s what corporations do. It’s your job to defend any claims you have to the best of your ability. Having said all that, we’re talking about Toyotas. They have a reputation for being reliable and resilient.

I do hope that the OTT representative on this forum will chime in with OTT’s stance and his thoughts.

I didn't post it with the intent of being the "warranty police". Just wanted to share the response I received from the dealer. I wouldn't have asked the dealer if I wasn't personally interested in OTT for my 4Runner. Everyone is capable of making their own choice and I certainly won't criticize anyone's choice one way or the other and would help argue against Toyota's stance.

I had a 2018 Mercedes (new) and in was an absolute lemon. It would unexpectantly go into limp mode and all the safety & electrical features would start flashing and shutdown. They ripped that thing apart countless times following advice from HO in Germany. When you see work orders of 25 to 30 pages long you come to appreciate warranty.

The title of this thread is you effectively advocating people should buy this product without thinking twice.

Your follow up replies are diminishing and childish.

You threw away your engine and transmission warranty for an extra 30 peak horsepower.

Did you happen to notice as well this is the only tune that OTT does for the turbo charged Toyota family?

There's a chance you may never encounter any issues, but there's a significant chance you pop your turbo due to the nature of the tune just crudely adding extra boost and timing.

Try googling "blown turbo stage 1" and see how many horror stories you come across for Subaru, VW, BMW, etc.

And if you read the body of the post, I said “if you’re on the edge, do it”. Thats mean ppl should have do their own research

How’s my reply childish? Of course I know about the warranty, but I just don’t care and tire of seeing ppl like you in every posts about mods. We’re all adults do your own research. Risk and reward assessment.

“30hp” I dont even care about the number as I didn’t even listed in my original post. But again it’s my car I do what I want, I just recommend to other ppl the benefits. You don’t want to do it cause of the warranty then don’t.

The rest of your post, I dont know where you going with that. Again I assumed everyone do their own research

I’m sorry if the tittle of the post miss leading you to think I’m putting a gun in your head to tell you to do it. I was just a little excited about how fun the car to drive after the tune and shared my experience.

Life lesson #1: If someone tells you to blindly do something: Definitely do not do it.
This is truck not a sport sedan, if you want speed I think you bought the wrong vehicle
There is no perfect solution, only trade-offs
Have a good day

Well we gonna agree to disagree then, cause I want more speed in everything I drive. Again my bad on the title of the post, for those that worry about warranty “don’t do it”

Respect! Ive been there trying to squeeze more potential out everything I've had toys or otherwise.
Broken things many times too. Its fun and almost a way of life, Ive retired from that world though. If it makes you smile go for, life's short! Just small caveat is to always consider the trade-offs when recommending it to others that may not be as technical as you.

Wow, this thread has gotten way off in the weeds. Any forum I've been on always seems to erupt into similar negative rhetoric which exposes some evangelistic sort that ruins it for everyone. If your intent is to save those headed to their doom, take up the Lord's work, but of course there's the one that feels that Satan is the answer. Anyone that's gotten to this point hopefully realizes that the tune manufacturer is an approved sponsor and Toyota Manufacturing has people who browse these threads. I'm assuming that OTT has financially contributed to this forum which helps support our ability to share our experiences and research topics relating to 6th gen 4runners at no expense. I was a partner in a sizable construction firm where we employed several to scan neighborhood chats, Facebook and so on for negative content on social media towards our business. Surprisingly some of the worst naysayers were those who had purchased multiple dwellings from us over time and often would be under contract for another, while seemingly at their Witts end with our firm? Let's agree to disagree and move on. Thanks to the OP for posting their experience and those who disagree. CNN, MSNBC and Fox are also on social media. Anyone with the need to save mankind should focus their energies in this direction please. Lastly, thanks to OTT for their support towards this forum
