What do you guys think is the max tire size I can put on a Trailhunter without any mods. (Stock suspension, and no rubbing...

I'm thinking 295x70/R18 ?? Is that too much? (And they only come in E for load rating... errr) I'm open to suggestions. :)

Oooh That's exactly what I needed to know, that's perfect! Thank you sir!

I just hope it fits underneath, (Or I'll have to look at swing out arms, woe is me... :) )

Amazing build btw! I love it

You can't just go by the number stamped on the side of the tire. ie 295/70/18 . When your looking a particular tire, look at the specs and the actual measurements. They can be vastly different from tire manufacturer to tire manufacturer. Tirerack.com usually has the actual measurements of most tires.

I'm running a 34"x11.5"x18 tire - 285/70/18 Falken WildPeak RT01 and they rubbed the crash plate at full lock. Once I removed the plate I think I could have went to maybe a 34.3", which would have been close for off roading.

I have a 285/70/18 in the under mount cradle. The two brackets at the front of the tire had to be removed for it to fit. It’s snug up against the hitch receiver. I’d think you’d be lucky to fit bigger. And it hangs pretty low so you’d have to make a call on whether that clearance loss would work for you.

That's what I needed to know as well. What brand of tire do you have? (to Archer's point)

BFG K03. BFG website shows actual size of 856mm which is 33.7". Attaching a chart that shows sizes, weights, etc for K03, Toyo At3, and Wildpeak AT4W in case it helps. scrub radius calcs use +55mm offset as a base because I have an ORP.

I'm interested in this as well because I want larger tires but am not interested in mods at this time, or any rubbing or bullshit. I'm ok with a rougher ride from a beefier tire.

Looking at the Falken Wildpeak AT4W and BFGoodrich KO3, what would be the largest size I could get away with to reach that objective?

The answer depends on a couple other things you need to decide on…
1) offset of wheels you intend to use
2) whether you want a same size spare and if you want it stored in the under mount cradle.

285/70/18 K03 fit with no rubbing or removal of anything (felt or crash plate) on my ORP with a +45 offset (the optional black TRD wheel). I had a 3/8” strut spacer installed….i don’t believe it had an impact on tire fit, but if that’s falls into your “bullshit” category then you can disregard my answer.
The K03 is 33.7 inches if I remember correctly. The Falken is 34” so I won’t comment on it fitting. You can search other threads but I thought I recall someone posted that same size tire on the TRD Pro wheels (+20 offset I believe) rubbed and crash plate had to be removed.

if you want same size spare then the 285/70/18 will only fit in the under mount cradle space with some mods.

Thanks for your reply. I will admit to not knowing much about wheel offset and how that factors in, but I want to use the stock rims. I'm ok with having a different size spare but if the tire can fit in the undermount location, I'm happy to buy a 5th. I'm also not opposed to relocating the spare, if I can find a relocation kit. That activity apparently doesn't fall into my "bullshit" category

I put on 35 x 12.5. Removed crash plates and I have zero rubbing. Full stock setup, and wheels.

those 35 MT Bajas look great man. Can you post up pics of a side profile to see the poke on each side? And yes, on the Pros and THs, if you remove the crash plates, true 35x12.5s should fit on stock suspension without issues. Cheers!
