  1. 2025 TRD Pro transmission shifting ROUGH

Hey so I haven't read this entire thread but I will. I just wanted to reply to this because I do the same thing, put it into Sport before driving. I do this because in Normal, it seems super eager to slam it into a high gear ASAP. Like, 1, to 2 in the first 10 feet of moving and it's always a...
  2. First Oil Change on Hybrid 2025 Trailhunter i-Force Max at 1,010 Miles (Oil Report added)

Change your own oil if it pleases you. I'm in between houses right now so I can't do mine in an apartment parking lot and honestly in this TX heat, that's fine. Just find someone you trust. A reliable mechanic is worth their weight in gold. If they cry like little girls when you ask to bring...
  3. Trailhunter question - Max Tire Size (stock suspension / no mods)?

Thanks for your reply. I will admit to not knowing much about wheel offset and how that factors in, but I want to use the stock rims. I'm ok with having a different size spare but if the tire can fit in the undermount location, I'm happy to buy a 5th. I'm also not opposed to relocating the...
  4. Trailhunter question - Max Tire Size (stock suspension / no mods)?

I'm interested in this as well because I want larger tires but am not interested in mods at this time, or any rubbing or bullshit. I'm ok with a rougher ride from a beefier tire. Looking at the Falken Wildpeak AT4W and BFGoodrich KO3, what would be the largest size I could get away with to...
  5. First Oil Change on Hybrid 2025 Trailhunter i-Force Max at 1,010 Miles (Oil Report added)

I had intended to post my next results at the 5K oil change, which ended up being 8,700 cause I had some travel. I took it to Round Rock Toyota and just had them perform the 10K service. I provided them with a 3 ounce sample container and told them I wanted a sample. Well after signing off the...
  6. Break In Period Procedure [Mileage / Recommendations] for 2025+ 4Runner 6th Gen ⚙️

I'm going to somewhat disagree with you. Yes, the engineers know what they are doing but the pressure to increase MPG and please the EPA and CARB regulations actually trumps longevity and best practice. I feel much better running a higher viscosity down here, especially if the engine is under...
  7. We used our TRD Pro as a generator to provide power (when home electricity went out)

I love this. I never, ever wanted a hybrid of any kind and was on the fence, right up until I purchased mine. I'm finding more and more reasons to be pleased I took that step and joined the dark, er, hybrid side.
  8. aFe Exhaust Systems Released - Apollo & Vulcan Series (for 2025 4Runner 6th Gen)

^^^^THIS^^^^ I realize this is a 4 cylinder but I'd like a little bit beefier exhaust note. And a horn that doesn't sound like a Prius. I checked out the pics. While I like the look of the Apollo, it's 409 steel which is nowhere near as good as 304, especially if exposed to salt and other...
  9. Quick reference placard for 12.3" MID settings

Yeah but, how do you disable the auto stop / start when you brake or are at a light? The AC in these vehicles sucks to begin with, and in TX, this worthless feature makes it even worse for in town driving.
  10. Premium fuel 91 octane gains 20 hp / 14 lb-ft torque (vs. 87 octane) on gas engine 2.4L i-Force -- dyno test

Have you ever seen an engine tear down at a shop? Crappy gas leaves deposits, especially in DI turbo charged motors. I'm neither a mechanic or a scientist but I believe the way fuel is delivered allows for large amounts of buildup on the valves. There's a few factors that go into making a gas...
  11. First Oil Change on Hybrid 2025 Trailhunter i-Force Max at 1,010 Miles (Oil Report added)

@Drewbice That is entirely up to you. I brought my own oil and filter to a 10 minute place up the road rather than drive 30 mins to the dealer where I certainly would have spent at least an hour. I will go in for the free ones and otherwise do my own at a 5K interval. I've read that engine...
  12. Premium fuel 91 octane gains 20 hp / 14 lb-ft torque (vs. 87 octane) on gas engine 2.4L i-Force -- dyno test

I don't think the grade you run has an effect on long term durability so much as where you buy your gas. The additive packages are what is important. You want to use "Top Tier" gasolines, from Shell, Exxon Mobil, Texaco, QT etc. @LARIN I was unaware people only keep the vehicles a few years. I...
  13. MagnaFlow Overland Series Exhaust Installed on TRD Sport Premium (Gas) - Subtle Sound, No Drone (pics & sound clip video)

Sounds great! Fake exhaust noises pumped through the car speakers piss me odd more than I have the words to describe. If the beshitted thing is electric, let it make no noise. This isn't a GMC Hummer where they pump fake noises through the speakers that the driver has no ability to...
  14. Break In Period Procedure [Mileage / Recommendations] for 2025+ 4Runner 6th Gen ⚙️

I worried about the same thing (or similar) with the Mustang cause when I drove it home from the dealer with 13 miles on it, hour long drive, I got a bit "spirited" and revved it up quite a bit. No WoT but pretty darned close. I went all over the Mustang 6G forums asking if I did something...
  15. Premium fuel 91 octane gains 20 hp / 14 lb-ft torque (vs. 87 octane) on gas engine 2.4L i-Force -- dyno test

Butt dyno is useless for gains below 30 RWHP. I run 91 usually but have had the vehicle less than 2 weeks. As this is a 4Runner, I have no interest wasting my time or money on a real dyno. Let the YouTubers handle that silliness.
  16. Premium fuel 91 octane gains 20 hp / 14 lb-ft torque (vs. 87 octane) on gas engine 2.4L i-Force -- dyno test

Because of knock sensors, any modern engine can run 87 octane regardless of what the manufacturer specifies. The ECU responds by retarding the timing and knock is no longer an issue. Is it a good idea in the long run? Probably not. Is it a good idea in the short run? Hell no! I want my engine to...
