My car trailer setup, anyone find better brake pads?

Has anyone tried any higher biting brake pads? It tows well and brakes well but I would like a little more grab im the truck with or without a trailer. Under hard braking it does feel a bit lacking.

In my other car I usually go to ceramic brake pads. Mainly for the brake dust mostly. But that might give you a better bite for towing.

Nah plain ceramic has less braking performance then semi metallic pads by nature. I know they make a few carbon/ceramic pads that may improve it or otherwise a towing specific pad

I have been checking EBC every so often to see if they get anything in their catalog for the 24+ tacoma and 25+ 4Runner. I run EBC on my GTI and would love the extra stickyness on the 4Runner if I can.

Also yeah did Ceramics on my daily driver and while they do not have much brake dust the stopping power is just ok. Nothing to write home about.

Also how does it tow with the car outside of the brakes? any idea what the total weight of the car and trailer come out to? I want to tow my GTI to some track days once I get my 4Runner, just gotta find a lighter trailer i think.

I've used Hawk LTS pads in the past on my Tundra and was pleased with the results. Like you I was looking for more bite and stopping power.

You should have no problem stopping if the trailer brakes are working. The vehicle is not designed to stop that weight on its own.

Ive never been a fan of ebc for sports and race applications for some reason they have always underperformed at the track. I recently tried the SR11 pad in my camaro and still didnt like it much. I wish carbotech made a truck pad.
As for towing the trailer is 1550lb and the car is about 2900lb. Honestly pulling the empty trailer felt the same as it with a car on it haha, it has the power to pull it, it never sees over 3k rpm or hunts for gears. Going up hill into the pocono mountains I was basiclly in boost the whole time until it levels out but it would stay around 2-2500k. Tempatures never moved, water,oil, trans all stayed dead center. Maybe a little more grunt would be nice for quick starts from a dead stop on an uphill but it gets going the same as regular traffic speed does

it does stop as designed with dual axle trailer brakes and gain properly set, currently at 7.0. But I like to have reserved braking capacity incase of too much heat say down hilll, or in an emergency braking situation. The truck lacks bite with or without a trailer.

Mine stops very well. Something is wrong if four piston calipers is not stopping you

A DW hitch? not sure what that is but i just have a regular 2inch drop hitch but switching to a 3inch as per the math but yea i loaded a little too tongue heavy on that trip. On the return trip i moved the car forward about 4 or 5 inches and it leveled out better. The GT4 is on pagid yellows the RSL i think its called.

Oh lol no i dont have one, the trailer has been very stable not even a hint if sway or difficulty. The suspension manages it very well
