replying to this thread for visibility and to note that my Cowoker has a 24' LC250 that is exhibiting the same smell right after rains. He has gone as far as ozone and cleaning out the inside of the actual door skin with no improvement. I can confirm that it has the same mildewy mold smell...

I wonder if I can get mine to do it again... worried about it since it has not happened for a while. Glad they fixed it and hopefully the problem stays away!

bumping this as I have the same smell and I do not have a sunroof. I also removed all the little rubber plugs on my doors and the rear hatch. Very annoying and its not from the A/C as it smells bad right after rain.

Interested to hear what the outcome is on this. I had this noise pop up on a roadtrip during the winter at elevation and of course it did not do it again once I got home to flat ass Kansas.... It has not done it since either. But if it really is a needle bearing in the diff I am a little concerned!

I am about to do the same with GX550 sliders on my ORP. Just going to do 8mm rivnuts since I already had a bunch. Mine appears to be 14 total for the 8mm bolts and then 4 for the 10mm bolts that for some reason do have the threads...

I do not disagree with you but I would want something that matches the passenger side just because the symmetry difference would bother me.

try a heat gun on low heat.... then use a plastic razor blade. Or if its really on there sometimes I use heat, Goo-Gone on a rag and then the plastic razor blade.

Just a thought, but the tacoma has been out for a little while and from my understanding alot of the lift pucks and collars tend to be the same between the tacoma and the 4runner so that does not surprise me. roof racks also should not be too hard to engineer given these brands have supported...
