285/70/17 Tires (33's) biggest tires that fit on stock SR5. No lift & no rub (photos)

There Falken Wildpeak 285/70/17 load Range E. Got them slightly used on Facebook. Haven’t noticed much in mpg but I also went into it knowing I’m not gonna get great gas mileage so I try not to pay attention to it lol. More about the smiles per gallon for me. I took the air dam off right away but I did a roadtrip to Omaha from Minnesota and think I was getting around 20mpg without the air dam on stock tires. Just checked today after bigger tires for a few days and it’s sitting around 18.5mpg but mostly city driving.

Yep, sometimes you gotta live for the smiles lol. Ok cool, yeah, I’ll be taking off the air dams for sure then. Still looking into the different tire options. Appreciate it!

Yeah of course. Definitely looks more like a 4Runner without the air dam too and takes like 2 minutes to take it off in the driveway.

I wouldn’t say smoother than stock but stock tires are also highway tires but they’re still very smooth and not a big difference you can just tell you have bigger tires if that makes sense. You do get a little bit more tire noise but not bad. Sacrifices you have to make to have the 4Runner look like a true 4Runner with big tires so it definitely worth it to me.

Looks good, I like it and I’m planning to do the setup. My only concern is that technically, when upgrading to 285/70R17, we need to use 17x9 rims ( OEM is 17x7 inches ). Otherwise, experts say sticking with OEM rims will cause sidewall bulge and uneven wear. Have you taken this into consideration?

I've heard the same but people have been doing it on the forums here... Not sure what they think tho

I put the Mickey Thompson 285/65/18 E load rating tires on mine. The road noise difference was not even noticeable. It has a slightly rougher ride but very minor difference. any upgraded C load rating in my opinion would have basically no difference in ride comfort.

Do you have any rubbing with the 285/65/18 tires?
