Wheel Spacers on Limited

Considering putting Spider Trax or similar wheel spacers on my 25 Limited. Not really looking for clearance for bigger tires, just thinking it would look good and fill the wells out a little better. Anyone else done this? Any noticeable changes in ABS, handling, etc?

Wheel spacers can cause stuff to break sooner than it should.

Wheel spacers stress the drivetrain by increasing leverage, which puts more bending force on wheel studs, bearings, and suspension/steering components, accelerating wear and risking failure, especially with large spacers or poor quality ones; they effectively lengthen the lever arm from the hub to the tire's contact patch, increasing load and altering suspension geometry. This extra leverage causes increased stress on wheel bearings, studs, control arms, and steering linkages, potentially leading to premature failure or dangerous wheel detachment if not properly chosen and installed.

It will wear out the bearings faster for sure.

So while it may look good, you may need to deal with the above issues at a later time.

Nobody can say for sure what is going to happen. It's a numbers game.

I wouldn’t run wheel spacers if it were me. But I’ve seen a lot of folks that will run them go with Spidertrax and KSP.

In my opinion, to each there own with how you equip your ride. I've run spacers on several different Toyota's as well as high performance cars (500+HP). If you decide to do it, be sure to purchase spacers built by reputable company. I've used Motorsport in the past without issue

It really depends on how big the spacers are. For instance if you put 1 inch spacers on the optional black ORP wheel, you end up with the same offset as a PRO wheel. So no added stress to anything since the offset is the same as a PRO.

Just make sure you torque everything correctly and you'll be fine.

I had Spidertrax spacers on a 2009 Tacoma that also had Kings front/rear and Deaver leaf pack.

Bombed that truck all over PNW logging roads and never had an issue before I sold it.

I have KSP Wheel Spacers 1.5 inch 6x5.5" on mine.

I have zero issues using spacers - in fact my wife's older Jeep (TJ) has had spacers on it for the past 15 years with no ill effects. The biggest issue with them is having to deal with 2x the lug nuts when doing a brake job!

But I'm coming in here as a different sort of devil's advocate. There have been a ton of folks on here complaining about the paint on these new 6th Gens. I'm not sure if it is a brittle paint issue or a thin paint issue - but it seems like there are a lot more chips on these than older generations. Do you think the spacers will increase the issue once the tires are kicking stuff past the flaps? I'm not asking rhetorically either....genuinely curious. I have looked at spacers for ours too as I like the wider stance and it is cheaper than a new set of tires.

Let me know your thoughts on this perspective.
