He is absolutely not lying. I just gave mine a look and found some a little farther down, It's something they use at the pinch welds and cavities for rust prevention. No worries actually a good thing.
Thanks for your comment. I initially thought that as well considering the weird locations I was seeing it. I just hope it stops, I've got a pavered driveway and I hate the oil spots this is putting on them.

Buy a can of brake cleaner. spray the spots heavy and dab them dry with a clean rag.

I climbed under my rig and removed the side steps, and while under there noticed
various wet spots collecting grime...where they for sure apply some type of anti-corrosive and it creeps a little bit.

I am experiencing the same thing with my new SR5 and it’s hasn’t stopped dripping since I bought it in May.
Please keep us posted if you find any new info on it. Thanks.

Has it stopped for you? Are we convinced that it’s rust protection.
Happening for me as well, and I m worried.

I have the same thing on mine. Any resolution?
Has it stopped for you yet? I have noticed the same thing but probably not many people are having this issue, so wondering if it’s a real issue or really rust protection.

Havent noticed it since my last post but I think manufacturing lubrication is a plausible explanation. It has happened intermittently since my ownership for the past 5 months.

Update, the dealership inspected today, and the never noticed this on any other 4 runner.
So now they will run detailed analysis on the vehicle.

Toyota dealership couldn’t locate the source and of oil and said they never saw this before, and said they opened a case with Toyota and kept the 4Runner for until they don’t know how many days.

I was excited that it am buying a Japanese SUV from a trusted manufacturer, but now
my trust is totally shaken, and I regret buying it.

Mine is still intermittently leaking oil. It's quite annoying. Hopefully you'll get an answer soon.

this is 100% a non issue. it's not an engine, transmission or gear leak
