TRD PRO tire options (max size tires for stock suspension)?

Need some advice on max size tires for a stock suspension TRD Pro. I have Wavemaker order arriving in a month and want to start the project for when the 4runner arrives its ready to go in. I do have a set of Sequoia TRD PRO Forged BBS wheels with 285/65/18 currently running on my wife's TRD OFF Road. I believe they are 18x8.5 +47. Thinking of possibly swapping with the TRD PRO and get some spacers to go along so it can sit more flush with fenders. With that I wanted to see if possibly to fit the 285/70/18 on the PRO without modifying the suspension. Anyone has done it? Should I keep the stock wheels or swap for the BBS Forged?

My shop told me that 285/70 R17s would fit so I think you’d be okay.

You cannot fit 35" tires (285/70/18) on a stock TRD Pro without heavy rubbing or modifications like cutting/removing body parts. The max safe tire is 33" (285/70/17 or 275/70/17). For 35" tires, you need a ≥ 2" lift and modified crash plates.

Suggest you use the search function to dig into what’s already on the site about what people have fit. You also need to decide whether you want to fit a same size spare in the undermount carriage. Wheel offset will also impact what fits without rubbing or mods, in addition to scrub radius and poke.

285/70/18 is not a 35” tire. KO3 is 33.7, Wildpeak is 34”.
And comparing to a 285/70/17 won’t tell you anything about whether a 285/70/18 fits.

Check out Moto Papa on YouTube—he used to run 295/70R18s on the stock TRD Pro wheels. He just removed the crash plates, and they fit with no issues. He has some really good videos on it.

285/70R18 are 34s not 35s (33.7" typically). And MANY folks on here have mounted them without issues (other than crash plate maybe). And my experience (on TRD OR, not PRO so not exactly what you are saying - and offset does matter) is that 35s can fit. I've posted my specific experience several times, including in response to a question a day or two ago...
But 285/70/18 (34s) WILL fit no doubt. You do not need a lift. (But yea, crash plate may have to go)

I'm sure I've posted this before, but yes: am running 285/75R18 Toyo ATIII - which are 34.8" diameter (and .3" larger than the same tire in a "true" 35" (35x12.5R18 Toyo ATIII are 34.5" diameter). Toyo A/T III specs.
I had 285/75s originally installed with +20 offset TRD Pro wheels - stock suspension with 1.25" peak leveling spacer. They rubbed some on air dam tab and on crash bracket. Crash bracket removed (and Ark crash bracket delete cover installed). Air dam removed and tab bent up. Still a slight rub in front but VERY slight. Ran them on several blue trails without issue..... EXCEPT the rear tires contacted the inside edge of my TRD OR fender flares at full articulation up.
SO....
Switched tires to +45 TRD flat black option wheels and ALL rub eliminated - UNTIL a drop at onX 7 rated Potts Mtn Jeep trail created a bend in the left front fender - it is hard to see even when underneath looking directly at it, but it apparently was enough bend to change the angles and create a slight rub in virtually the same spot. Only when in reverse turned all the way right. Right side no rub at all.
And its actually worse since the lift kit installed - and the big positive caster is the only thing that I can think of that might have caused that - hence my question.
(Note: I put the stock 265/70 Michelins on the TRD PRO wheels and swap between them - big tires for winter and off-roading)
(Note 2: I ordered 285/70R18 and that is what I thought I had until I had a flat at Rasch Creek Offroad and took some closeups of the sidewall tear and numbers to see if Toyo might replace (happened at maybe 2.5K miles). Filling out the Toyo form I was flabbergasted to see the 285/75 marking. Ended up double patching the tire and turning into my full size spare.

TLR: 285/75R18 can fit on TRD OR if mounted on +45 offset wheels with no rubbing if crash bracket deleted. (Avoid body damage that pushes into the tire:>)
