Hi everyone,

Has anyone in here optioned for the “TRD Performance Cat-Back Exhaust” on their '25 or '26 4Runners?
I'd really like to read thoughts & opinions about this upgraded exhaust such as sound & potential performance gains. I'm wondering if it's worth the money & if the sound infiltrates the cabin much.
I like the idea of a more beefy sound & increased performance but I'm not sure how much louder it will make the cabin.
Those who have this exhaust please chime in! Thanks!

There are some sound clips on youtube. It sounds horrible just like all of the other exhausts out there for these. Some people just want to put an exhaust on so badly, and fool themselves into thinking they sound good. It's not just limited to our trucks. Any 4 or 6cyl Truck or SUV sounds embarressing with an aftermarket exhaust.

There are a few 3rd gen Tacomas in my town that are running exhausts. They sound so terrible that I am embarressed for them when I see them.

You're welcome. A funny story I'll add is that I owned a 2019 Colorado a few years ago. 308 hp V6. I threw on the coolest AFE exhaust. Cost me probably 800 bucks. Side dump, chrome....just beautiful. Sounded so bad that it wasn't even funny. I had plans to remove it and revert back to stock the next morning.

That night, the new girl I was dating had her dog get sick and asked if I could pick her up bring her pup to the vet with her. My truck sounded so horrible that words can't even describe it. It was the most embarressing car ride I ever took and I still have flashbacks. She was like something is wrong with your truck lol. I had tell her that part of my exhaust was messed up and I planned to "fix it" the next day. A valuable lesson was learned though.

I’ve owned both a 5G Pro and now a 6G Pro. Both sound awful, and drone.

The 6G Pro exhaust is actually more noticeable because of the hybrid switching on and off.

I’m considering putting a stock OEM 4R exhaust on, it’s that annoying or I just keep turning the volume up on my tunes.

I test drove two 4Runners in the beginning of my research. First, with regular exhaust, the second with the TRD exhaust. Both TRD ORP, one was a hybrid, other gas. I was appalled how terrible the TRD exhaust sounded. Loud, obnoxious, drone, reverberating, pounding, terrible tone; like those ridiculous mufflers on many Japanese imports, a little quieter. It was put on my absolutely, never, not an option I'd ever consider, any 4Runner with it automatic decline option. None of the aftermarket sound clips make me think they're exhaust would be any different. Stock all the way.

Thank you also for sharing your insight on this. It's sounding like the “upgraded” exhaust isn't worth it for the sound it offers...no pun intended.😅
