Any updates to this? Mine also jerks when I press on the gas or take my foot off the gas
Hi I ended up selling the truck. A $5k lesson in why you don't buy first year vehicles. The absolute lack of support from Toyota makes me never want to buy another Toyota vehicle.

I'm getting the same thing with only 137 miles on it. When I pull off after backing down my driveway, it's a very loud "thud" coming from the drivetrain. It has done this in sport mode and normal mode. A lady on the 6th Gen Facebook page just had a complete transmission failure and it's now in the shop. The transmission is on backorder, so she's having to wait for that to come in. I've got a bad feeling about my purchase, now.

This is not considered a safety issue, so the NHTSA can't really help, and Toyota will most likely never acknowledge it.

Most of the big Toyota YouTubers are loyal to the brand, so don't expect them to talk about it unless Toyota officially publishes or acknowledges the issue.

I only have 195 miles on my vehicle, and I already feel disappointed. It's frustrating to feel like I'm driving something that doesn't meet the quality I expected. What a disappointment.:(

I've observed the same as reported by the OP and feel the same way about this transmission. It's crap.

I'm not that far ahead of you - only have 350 miles on mine - but I also had the loud thud when going in reverse during the first 200ish miles. It seems like I have less of it now, or at least, it's not that harsh/noticeable as the first few times.

I'm chaulking this up to the 'break in period,' at least for now. We'll see how it goes in the next few hundred/thousand miles. Personally, I'm reserving judgement (unless extreme) until the 2,500 mile mark.

As far as the downshifting, I also have that, but like the switch to reverse, it seems to be getting less and less jarring. I am intentionally trying to break my engine in correctly (for example, allowing the engine to reach 3-4K RPM's before gear shifting), and allowing the vehicle to engine brake whenever possible, and it seems to be having an effect over time. Hope it's not delusional wishcasting on my end, but it seems to be working? We'll see.

EDIT: just realized I replied to a 1 year old post, meant to reply to the one below that
