Sorry if this has been answered before but I'm looking at a TRD Pro that has the TH roof rack on it.

Is that thing easily removable an has the same mounting points as the regular roof rack or do they drill it into places that would leave holes exposed that would have to be filled in with silicone or something else?

Thanks.

The TH rack uses the same factory mount holes that all trims have. Youll need an M12 and T40 to remove.
If you remove the rack, youll expose the mounts to rain and water. If you silicone them up, might be a PITA to remove if you decide to install roof rails or another rack down the line

Thank you.

I guess my question is that if I remove the TH rack and immediately replace it with the regular rack, do I need to do anything extra to insure there are no leaks or eventual rust/paint damage?

I don't want the TH rack but I just got offered a TRD Pro with it on and trying to figure out if its an easy swap or if I should pass and just wait for one without the TH rack.

All that can be solved with silicone. You just have to pick out a silicone is meant for automotive use that bonds to metal and paint. I believe regular silicone thats meant for home and shower is actually corrosive to metals so it'll eat and the paint and can also cause rust as itll expose the metals. I used sikaflex 221 on my TH rack after researching what silicone to use for roof racks. Dont forget to use black silicone to blend in with the rack!

It should be an easy swap. Where are you located? I would trade my oem rails and cross bars if you are in TX.
