Question ✋. if i dont install a TPMS on my winter tires, do i see alarm lights in my dash panel as the ECU wont detect any TPMS signal? Can i temporarily disable the TPMS? Thank you.

you could just register a second set of id codes for the 2nd set of tires, its in the manual pg 551

correct. if you don't install a sensors on your winter set you will see the light. there is no way to turn it off as it's a government mandate safety feature. you can buy a set for $120 so they aren't that expensive and can easily self program.

Because I have tires that don't fit in the wheel wheel I have to keep the spare in the cargo area. To make it as small as possible I knocked the air down to 20psi and tried recalibrating the pressure level in the TPMS settings, it confirms but then goes right back to showing low pressure for the spare. Am I missing something or is that just too low of a setting?

the psi setting is for all the tires under that id set profile, not just for each individual tire. so if your baseline for that id profile is 33 psi, then any tire that breaks the low limit of the profile settings will throw a warning.

you could do the jury rig approach and put the sensor in a sealed tube set to psi of the other tires to fool the system.

just so you know, the low limit warning light threshold is based on the cold psi factory setting minus 20-25%

33 psi = 6.6 psi to 8.25 psi

32 psi = 6.4 psi to 8 psi

some vehicles are set to 32 or 33 psi based on the door plate if i remember correctly on the 6th gen.

Cold Pressure Adjustments & Rules:

Air expands and contracts with temperature. A standard rule of thumb is that tire pressure changes by 1 PSI for every 10F.

If the temperature drops: Your tire pressure will decrease. You will need to add air so it remains at 33 PSI in the morning.

If the temperature rises: Your tire pressure will increase.

Thanks, makes sense.
Looks like I live with the light...

Wish you could turn them off completely, got enough warning alarms going off when offroading already.

on i have my PKSB light on all the time since i turned it off completely. not really ideal to have that constantly being engaged during winters up here in ND.

especially since it sits in the garage over night and i dont have a heated garage. usually the garage is about 10F warmer than the outside temp, which at -10/-20F you really cant tell the difference in that its fracking cold.

I guess this is one way that the max of 4 registered sensors at any given time of the Limited could be seen as a "plus"! I have sensors in all 5 wheels, but the system does not seem to be able to support 5 pressures, unlike the PRO/Trailhunter/etc., despite having the big driver's display. There are only 4 displayed pressures. :(

You can turn most of them off but everytime you shut it down they reset to ON, and that gets old all day long when wheeling.

If you know a secret, pass it on.

I don't KNOW this but I THINK the warning is thrown for PSI <30. I needed to get off the mountain quickly after an excursion a few weeks ago and aired up to 30 (from 17) to save some time. One of the tires read 29 PSI on the dash meter and it gave me a warning for just that tire. (IIRC)
I too carry my big spare in the cargo area but have not aired it down. But I might do that (and live with the warning) since if I need the spare I will more than likely need it to be aired down anyway:>) (BTW - my spare is the tire that got a sidewall tear while on a Blue trail guided ride at Rausch Creek)
