Installed Redline Tuning Hood Struts purchased from Cali Raised LED. Quick shipping, arrived packed well in a stout shipping tube to prevent damage.

Easy quick install. I did notch out the plastic flap behind the lower brackets. This allows the bracket to sit tight against the metal panel.

These struts are tuned to work smoothly and make lifting the hood near effortless. While closing, they provide just the right amount of over center action to make sure the hood closes without slamming.

We may never know why hood struts are not standard on our $60K+ vehicles. But it's nice to have a quality aftermarket solution.

An inch or more higher measured where the prop rod (lower hole) inserts into the hood.

If u want to install ditch lights, its brackets go on top of the hood struts. OEM bolts are fine for it.

I was concerned about length of OEM bolts. Which brand of ditch lights did you go with?

I purchased the struts from Hansshow. They seem to look very similar to Redline. Anyone know how the quality compares?

I left the prop rod. IMO, no real reason to remove except aesthetics.

I left the prop rod in. I also noticed that the lower end of the rod is a bit loose. To prevent a possible mystery rattle, I wedged a small zip-tie into that space.
